To get a cmos battery out, a simple way is to just get like a flathead screwdriver, put under it, and flip it out.

How to reset forgotten bios password on a dell precision 220

If you know the current password just boot the machine and look for what key to press to get into the Bios or Setup. There you can change it if you know the current password.

If you don't know the password, then you will need to remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard and let it sit for a couple of hours. This will cause the computer to clear memory of everything. Then replace the CMOS battery and start the machine. Unfortunately you might have to disassemble the laptop to get to the CMOS battery.

Please can you tell me how to reset the cmos on a samsung R510 Laptop

Hello you just have to remove the cmos battery:

10_18_2012_1_51_22_pm.gif
Press the release pad and the battery will pop out
DO NOT have any power on disconnect all power and usb cables
when you do that.

Wait for 10 min. or so with the battery out
and the bios will reset back to factory settings.

Replace the battery and boot up your machine and enter the bios
you kave to configure the boot order.

Here is some youtube videos how you do that:

But it depends what bios you have.

Good luck

NB205 has HDD password. How can i remove it?

- Seems like a BIOS password issue. You need to reset the BIOS and in order to do that you need to take out the CMOS/Lithium battery out for about 5 seconds and put it back in.
- Make sure you are static free and the laptop should be turned off completely, battery and power cord unplugged before opening the bottom panel.
- Locate the CMOS battery. Most of the time it is located under the memory modules or hard drive depending on the brand and model of the laptop.
- If the CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard and you don't have experience with soldering, i suggest you bring the laptop to someone who knows how to.
- If you do not want to remove the CMOS battery, what you can try is short circuit the jumper settings. Click here for tips on how to locate jumper settings.
Hope this helps.

Got message "CMOS battery low" What steps are

Assuming you know how to get into your computer and identify the CMOS battery, you just need a pair of tweezers or similar to remove the battery. Once it has removed, take it into a drug store or pharmacy and find the exact same battery, and replace it in the motherboard. If you can't identify the CMOS battery, please let me know and I can help you with that.

The CMOS battery is in a black retangular chip (35mm x 20mm) next to the HD. The name "Dallas" shoud be printed on this chip, which can be replaced. Just tweek up each end. Note the way the label is facing should you reconnect. The label will read: panel 5v, Sig 5v, invert 12v if you have a 10.4" A 12.1 LCD will have the panel at 3.3v. Hope this helps you. Glenn

CMOS or RTC battery for this laptop : can it be replaced

Hi AshishB, Yes, Toshiba does refer to the CMOS battery in their literature as the real time clock battery. Your retailer is half right, the battery is on the motherboard but its attached via a connector and it can be replaced. Here are links to a couple of venders that sell the RTC battery for your laptop: - Http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,L15-S104,Laptop,Batteries-Backup-RTC.aspx - http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Laptop-motherboard-battery-cmos-L15-S104_W0QQitemZ170060189842QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
