Scrolling desktop; scrolling programs

Not just my home screen / desktop (Nokia N800) scrolls involuntarily and unstoppable (not supposed to!) but most of my program pages too. Tapping the screen activates whatever icon is supposed to be there but isn´t because - the screen scrolls. So screen-input itself is not affected. This makes navigating with screen very difficult if not impossible: I have to estimate where the intended icon would be if the screen were not scrolling...
When it stops scrolling, it usually does so each time in the same position - which is not the original position. Even then the icons do not respond to directly tapping tthe screen where they appear, only to tapping the screen where the icon should have been had it not scrolled involuntarily.
Did I make myself (and the problem) clear?

This was a common problem that N800's had. From what I've read, requires an lcd replacement.

How do I delete and apps on zeepad tabled

Tap on the "Settings" Icon, which should be on the home screen, then scroll down to "apps" in the window that then opens, scroll across to "All Apps", then swipe down the screen until you reach the first app or program that you wish to remove. Tap it's name, and in the new window that opens, tape 'delete', a confirm delete window will open to ask you to confirm that you want to remove it. Tap "Yes" and the app is gone!

NOTE! This WILL NOT work for system apps - they cannot be deleted without other expert changes being first made to the system. Only apps and programs you have installed can be easily removed

It was always difficult for me to switch on/off Nokia N800 as its button seemed too soft and fragile. And now I've been using Nokia N800 for 8 months and yesterday its button stopped reacting! It wouldn't...

Do you hear "clicking" when you press the power button? As if it registers the button but does nothing after the "click?" If not, then it sounds like the mechanical/electrical problem with the button. If you do hear clicking maybe if you simply do a battery pull it may reset what was freaking out the power button.

There is a way to reset the UI (rather than cycling the power) but it involves from shell commands:

the XTerm is in the utilities menu. Open that up and type:

/etc/init.d/mce restart
/etc/init.d/osso-systemui restart

Also in XTerm

shutdown -r now

will reset the N800.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Nokia N800 Tablet

I had the same problem with the n810. I was using a non-oem battery and the connections were a loose fit causing the battery not able to charge.
If you take the battery cover off, hold the battery firmly in place. Connect the charger and make sure battery is charging, then press the boot button. If it boots and stays on, then shuts off when you stop holding the battery. Then you probably have a loose connection or a bad battery. Also try cleaning the connector with a pencil eraser and alcohol.
I had to wedge tthe battery in place. You can find a spare battery with a desktop charger on Ebay for around $10US.
