I have a Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loading washer model WTW6400SW1. During the past month, I have been seeing the "LD" error code ("slow to drain") but not the "F1" code during middle of the wash cycle before rinse. I checked the hoses and looked for any obstructions at the water pumps but find nothing. I have read a few other customers having the same LD error. Is the control board fix the same however for both LD or F1 errors? My unit was purchased in Dec 2007. I have read getting an updated board #w10189966 is a good fix to replace the original board which is prone to programming errors from what I have read on the net with other customers. We can get through the wash eventually by unplugging power, wait 5 minutes (less than a minute does not help) and then plug cord in again (we hear a "click" at the panel which seems to indicate the control panel is resetting). We then turn the dial to rinse and drain which works, but then LD error pops up again. Again, we unplug power, wait 5 minutes and then turn dial to final stage of drain and spin and finally, wash is done after these series of intermediate steps. Again, we would like know if the control board replacement is truly the correct remedy to this problem. Thanks. Ray

most likely a clogged pump drain find it below the drum usually under a plastic lid bottom left if not under the lower panel below the door

find the 3 screws and remove the cover panel and clean the pump by twisting the pump valve cover counter clockwise

WHIRLPOOL CABRIO WASHER ERROR LD The Cabrio Washer LD error code stands for Long Drain which means the control has recognized the water in the tub is not draining fast enough during the cycle.

1. Make sure the pump and drain hose are clear of debris that would cause a blockage.
2. Check the impeller on the drain pump and make sure its not wobbly or busted.
3. Remove the tub hose from the pump to the tub and check it for blockage.
4. Make sure the pump is running when and getting the proper voltage when it should be.
5. If all the above checks out then replace the drain pump motor.

"HC" Hot & Cold Hoses Switched This code will appear at the end of the wash cycle to indicate that the hot and cold-water inlet hoses are reversed.
"dL" Door/Lid Cannot Lock (Stored Error Codes F80, F82, F84, F85) Indicates the lid cannot lock.
Check for items caught in the lid keeping it from closing completely.
Is soap, fabric softener, or anything else keeping the lock from extending into the lid?
The control detects an open lid switch, or cannot determine if the lid is locked. Test the lid lock connection to the washer's control board and lid lock resistance levels.

There is no "Lo" code I can see in the service manual, but there is an "oL" code which flashes when the machine/motor control detects a load size that exceeds the washer's capacity. Open the door lid to clear the display, and remove excess laundry, then close the lid and restart the cycle.

There is an "Ld" which related to a Long Drain when the water level doesn't change after the drain pump is on. Need to check to see if the drain hose or the drain pump is clogged.

F1 error in your whirlpool cabrio indicates bad control and should be replaced to resolve the error code. However, you can contact Whirlpool as well prior to replacing the control yourself as I have seen whirlpool paying for the parts themselves just because this is known to be a common issue. Error code F1 is caused when the control on your washer is either bad or about to go bad. This is a common issue with Whirlpool Cabrio washers and they are aware of this. I have also seen them replacing the control without any charge, don't really know about the labor charges but they usually won't charge you for the part. Long drain error can be caused by something plugging the drain hose or a kink. Tale it off th drain while it is pumping out and check for a good flow. If the hose is ok the pump may have an obstruction causing low flow and it will have to be cleaned out.

Clean out the drain pump. LD is a long drain error.

I have a call with the same problem. Pumps all the water out but still flashes LD. Should be the board, The electronic pressure switch is built in to the board. Make sure the pressure chamber on the back right side is not cloged
