Hi, I have Kenmore model 106, side by side. Yesterday evening it acted up by making a strange noise, like it had broken fan or belt. I thought perhaps the ice maker was causing problem and I disabled ice maker. It still made noise so I turned the frig control to off and it went away. Before this happen my wife had frig. open to stock up frig with food. Anyhow I left frig off for hour or two. When I turned frig On it started to make noise again and it went away after 30 seconds, and has run fine since. It seems to be working fine now and is blowing cold air through vents. I adjusted air balance by putting in the middle. I have no idea how to adjust it. Do you think I should have it checked and perhaps they can do some preventive maintenance. If it should happen again what should I do. Thanks

It seems to be working fine, the noise usually come when the compressor in the fridge is trying to maintain the temperature inside. It does it's own calculations to keep the temperature consistent. Moverover as you say it is working fine now, so I'd recommend you to leave it as it is. In case it makes same noise again for more than 5 minutes, then you need to get it checked,

You should not keep it running if the noise does not stop within 20 - 30 minutes.

these have to be in correctly to lock back in and allow the unit to function. Try removing the bin again and be sure there isn't any small pieces of ice trapped anywhere. Also make sure there aren't any broken pieces from the bin. Hope this helps. Good luck.
