I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D.

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:

  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

  1. Follow this link to download a pdf version of the firmware installation instruction guide.
  2. Follow this link to download the Windows Version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  3. Follow this link to download the MAC version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  4. Follow this link to download the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D Instruction Manual.

I hope that helps.

Pictures: after taking 4-5 pictures in a roll my lcd displays "busy" i than have to wait 2-4 secounds before taking another picture... dose anyone know why this happens and how to correct it?

When you take a picture, the file gets placed in a buffer on the camera to wait for the memory card to be able to accept it.
When you take a lot of photos in a row, the buffer fills up, as the memory card can only be written to at a certain speed (usually slower than you can take the pictures). If the buffer is full, you cannot take more pictures until space has opened up. This only happens once the file has transferred from the buffer to the memory card.
There is no way to correct this, though you can get faster memory cards, which can reduce the amount of time an image spends in the buffer.

Busy signal while taking a picture

Have you been taking shots in continuous mode (burst)?  The camera has a built in buffer of fast memory where photos are stored before being written to the slower CF card.  Once the memory gets full the camera will not take another picture unless some of the images complete transfer to the CF card. You will notice a number inside your viewfinder (bottom left) the number goes down when you take a picture that is how much space is left in the buffer when it hits 0 the buffer is full it will go up as the buffer clears.  Note that RAW takes up more space and fills the buffer quickly.
If you get the "Busy" message even after just 1 shot then there is something wrong with either your CF card or your camera and you should take try another card or it to canon for service.

Blank photos

This is a CCD sensor problem ( see enclosed image of one taken out of a Cannon camera with similar specs to yours ). Contact Fuji agent as this is repaired under warranty .48f4e65.jpg

LCD monitor is blank

Canon would have to fix this for you. The fault may be the screen itself, or the LCD viewfinder drive IC on the camera's circuit board. In this case they will replace the circuit board.
