You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Can I install firmware on a vivicam 3765?

Firmware only can be installed on a fully functional device. It is wrong to think you could put some firmware into a device, without the special programs the manufactures uses. When a firmware is made available for a camera, it is most of the time put on a memory card. It has a certain name and size. The camera must function for 100%, because the software has not only to recognise the file where the firmware is in, it also must place the software in the flash memory, without an error. For that it only has one chance, of always make sure there is enough power available to transfer and to install the firmware. When things go wrong, you bricked the camera and the only thing you can do is bring it to a certified service centre. Camera's in warranty, will be flashed for free, but out of warranty, it could be they charge you for the job.

My vivicam 3765 is very slow to "recover" between pictures and sometimes freezes up. Can the firmware/drivers be reinstalled in camera? Would this help?

It won't help. and read my other post, if the camera is not fully functional, don't try to put in other software. When Vivitar never gave a firmware update, you can't even get any firmware.

Does anyone know how i can use my 3765 for a webcam i'm desperite i called vivitar and got the runaround. please help

You can't. The 3765 was designed as a camera, storing high-resolution images (and videos) to a memory card. It was not designed to stream live video to another device.

AC adapter for ViviCam 3765.

The polarity is correct, but 400mA is not enough. One commercial supply I saw was rated at 2.5A. I even suspect 3v isn't enough as I have tried an external battery pack with D-Cells in it and after a few flash shots it wants new batteries. The camera itself seems to be over-sensitive to "low" voltage and complains about new or freshly charged batteries (see other posts).

There is a problem with these cameras in this battery voltage area. I have asked Vivitar what external voltage to use, but no reply. Good luck! I am sufficiently fed up with this camera that I may try 4.5v external supply and if it blows up, good riddance!
