Yes the Router can be hooked to a high speed modem like DSL or Cable, that high speed connection would go from the modem to the "internet" port of the router. Now the router would need to be configured if you need wireless, and then a temporary connection to a tower or laptop would be needed.

A box keeps popping up saying "check air flow". Why/Where/how?

why - without adequate airflow, things get HOT. where - usually where there is a plastic/metal grill at the back of the device.. so your computer tower needs plenty of space behind and either side to ensure enough airflow to keep the components cool. Routers too need a little bit of airflow (not suggesting you hook up a desk fan)!.
how - just give a few more inches of space on all sides and see if it helps; keep increasing the space until the message stops appearing.

I cant get the router hooked up.

Sounds like your PC does not have a PCI Network card. You can purchase one from NewEgg for <$20, or for a little more your local Walmart/BestBuy etc will have them.

Once purchased they are easy to install.

Wireless connection set up

Are you trying to hook up the laptop wirelessly to the pc? because then the pc would need to have a wireless card as well....sounds like I need more info, but if you are trying to do what I think you are, you should just get a wireless router instead, hook the pc tower directly to it via ethernet cable, and then setup the laptop to connect to the router. The router would hook to your dsl or cable router....what service do you have?

Hi Brenda,

Your All In One wants a phone line hooked directly to it. It won't fax without a "POTS" line directly hooked to it. POTS stands for "Plain Old Telephone Service" which is the line with good old dial tone on it.

Hooking up xbox 360 to router

Hi, If I may assume, currently the modem is connected directly to the back of the tower (PC) by a lan cable. To connect the AP/Router, remove the LAN cable from the back of the PC and connect it to the WAN input of the router. With another LAN cable, connect one of the 4 ports of the router to the LAN card of the PC. Go to the router's Web Configuration Utility and make sure Wireless, SSID, broadcast and DHCP is enabled. For the moment, WEP, WPA and MAC Filter off. See if you can connect you XBox 360. Hope this be of help/idea to you. Good luck and post back should you need additional information. Kind regards.
