Check the bottom of the set, and make sure that the handset is plugged into the handset - not - handset to the headset jack.

Make sure that the cords that attach the handset are all plugged in.

Take someone elses handset and test to see if it the set or maybe you have a bad handset issue.

Handset will only work on handsfree

If by "handsfree" mode you mean headset mode, it may help to plug and unplug the cord into the phone a few times, it could be stuck on the headset mode and this action may fix it. If by "handsfree" you mean speaker mode, the speaker button should do it, but if not, it could be broken.

There is no dial tone or sound, but the calls go through

Does it work on handsfree or with the handset ? It should work for one of those. Make sure your handset isn't plugged into the headset port on the bottom of the telephone. If it's still not working, change the handset and curly cord with one from another phone to test if that's the issue. (but then the Handsfree should technically work)

Sounds like the handsfree button might be stuck down. Try slightly pulling up on the button and see if that changes to the handset.

Unfortunately the 7100 doesn't have handsfree capability. M7208, T7208, M7310, T7316, and M7324's are able to though.

Hands free not working

To get handsfree working on any T7316 telephone you have to go into system programming to make sure full handsfree as been set to either Auto or Standard depending on software level of system you will get a choice but on latest version of software only option is for Auto, to check on telephone if handsfree as been programmed leave handset on phone press feature * 0 you will see key enquiry press a key in display, press the bottom intercom key on r/h/s of phone if it says extn number handsfree as not been programmed if it says handsfree mute you should be able to press handsfree key on phone to make or answer a call.

Can't hear without handsfree, beeps

Hmm..did you try the customized profile so you can set it on the loudest mode? and also have you noticed if your phone makes any other noice like when you move around the menu or type a text messege? does it play music on the speaker? Try all possible ways you can think of that makes the phone create sound as a response. And last thing to do would be a reset.

  • Phone settings
  • Reset settings
