That is correct; the new pump has a metal pulley, which is more durable.

SOURCE: What causes premature wear in the rings and bore of BMW K75s?

the K75 has very reliable engine .. its unusual for it to fail in this way .. the frozen rings would suggest overheating and thats possible if the radiator fan fails (that happens often before your 80,000) .. many of the pre 1990 k75s would smoke after storing for awhile .. that was a ring gap positioning problem .. that was corrected in newer models .. the smoke however would not have damaged the cylinders .. maybe in the extreme could foul a plug .. is it possible that someone put something in your gas tank ??.. or could it have been run without oil/water or perhaps the wrong type oil (like transmission fluid) ... that engine should have lasted longer than most cars .. nice smooth bike ..

SOURCE: spa motor making a rattling noise. Is it bearings

It's impossible to tell without first checking the condition of the wear ring.

I have replaced a couple of wear rings that had completely worn out and broken into 2 pieces, these made the pump noisier.

My advice would be to remove the end plate and take a look, if you cant see any major wear, remove the impellor and turn the motor shaft by hand to feel/hear the bearings.

Kind Regards,

SOURCE: how do you wear the

Adjust the wide panels over both your shoulders and lower back to ensure that you are comfortable and that your child is carried safely, then bring the thinner straps around just over your chest through the loops/rings and pull tight as if tightening a belt around your waist. be sure the straps are secure and it should hold tightly with no give.

Hello Kit,well its the end of the season so if your really handy you need to change your prop and housing ring , the gap gets bigger over time and your jet prop gets smaller in diameter, letting high force water just pass by, just did the two of mine last year, same thing and now there like rockets!!!!!, cost =110.00-150.00 in parts , if dealer does it add 150.00 or so

Check your exaust hose. Mine came loose inside the engine compartment and it caused the same problem. Would run great for a while, then just die or start sputtering like it was missing or the plugs were bad. After I let it sit for a while it would start up fine, run great for about 15 mins, then have the same problem.

I own a 2001 bandit 1200, 50.000 km. Oil consumption is now around 1000 cc per 1000km and smoking blueish. I will replace valve sealing and rings. Qstn: should I replace all rings or just the top ones

Not being a Mechanic, just what I see as commonsense, replacing ONLY the valve seals without checking for wear in the guides will be a waste of time & money, as the head will already be off the motor, probably also consider re-seating the valves as they need to be out to check the guide wear.---Much the same for rings---If the top ring is worn the others will likley be the same and unmatched rings may cause more problems down the line---for the rings to be checked/replaced, the piston will be out, so check the bore for lip & wear/ovality---specialist tools and a manual will be handy----local library/google may help here.Chains can be measured/checked too---a manual may clarify. I would expect a chain to have some form of automatic tensioner that generally eliminates at least minor wear, which should be quite low (I would think on this mileage---if oil/filter changed as per manual).

As an engine wears the ring lands on the pistons wear also. In addition to ring land wearing on the piston, the bore in the cylinder develops a wear pattern. Has the engine been rebuilt?
If the pistons have worn ring lands and were re-used it may allow the rings (new or old) to twist in the grooves and catch on any ridge in the cylinder, thus breaking them.

When the engine is apart you must check for proper ring land wear. You need to consult the piston manufacturer for proper wear specs, typically around 0.006in.

If you're getting a visible amount of smoke/oil from the breather after the rebuild something is not right. The rings are not seating. I would definitely recommend boring/honing the cylinders and going with a new set of pistons/rings so you don't have to pull it apart again. A little more now can save a lot in the long-run.

No the wear ring should slide freely to cause a seal when pump is on. The water pressure inside the pump will push it into place. Also be sure the large side of the wear ring goes out so when it slides forward it seals.
