Check inside the CPU if it is connected properly.
Due to this problem there are some reason why it can't be detected to system.
#1 Make sure it is primary or slave control in the motherboard.
#2 Check if there is a power or not on DVD Drive or it have then try to eject the layer.
#3 Acquiring the DVD Drive to see it that the JUMPER setting is Master, Slave, Cable Select.
Good luck!
Look to see if the drive is recognized in the bios.
make sure the first booting option is from the hard drive as sometimes the computer will skip over seeing the optical drive if it is set as the first booting device.
Check to see if the cable attached to the drive is loose.
If that doesn't work check to see if the cable is bad by swapping the current cable our with a known working cable.
Possibly switch the power supply cord.
have the computer search for the drive using the install new hardware wizard.
If these don't work try putting it in a different machine.
also check to see that the drive lights light up.
worst case scenario I can think of is the controller card of the dvd drive is dead but I rarely see the controller card being the issue.
If it is the controller card acting up you might be able to save it by reflashing the dvd players firmware. you should be able to find a firmware file to flash from the manufactures website. The drive should have P/N (part number) and other numbers to help you identify your model.
If the controller card is completely dead either replace from a drive of the same make that had it's laser worn out or just replace the drive completely.
Run malware bytes or avg anitvirus to see if a virus is masking it from view.
make sure the software you use for your dvd drive isn't damaged or outdated.
update the firmware on your drive or the bios on *********** board as sometimes a bios of a certain revision won't recognize hardware but a newer or older revision will.
If you installed any other hardware or software recently uninstall it and see if that brings it back. if it does look for the manufactures webosite of your drive and the uninstalled item for known compatibility issues.
If it's and IDE drive and not a sata drive make sure that the jumpers are in the correct spots. If you don't know where they should be placing them all on cable select should work just fine.
If these don't work post back and I'll see if I can think of anything else.
