Gaggia Macinadosatore MDF

I won one of these machines, but the wiring appears to be degraded. I would like to try to rewire it. Is there a technical manual? I have the version that runs on 120 volts

More on the Gaggia---The wiring is inside the device--I have had it for about 30 years!! The insulation has deteriorated, crackled, etc. I have no problem with the line coming into the machine(thatplugs in). It's the wiring inside the machine that is shot.

Try www.smallappliance.com.

Most Gaggia items use individual wiring pieces rather than specialized plugs. If so, you can make your own by getting some regular zip cord at the hardware store and stripping and tinning each section. If you have to put wiring in, be sure to make any kind of screw terminal tight. If the terminal uses a real screw that the wire goes around, be sure the wire goes clockwise around the screw.

Why do you think the wiring is degraded? These guys make good stuff and it is UL approved which means, among other things, that the wiring should last quite a while without degrading.

I have a Gaggia burr grinder, Brevetti Gaggia SA Model MDF, s/n 7262. The handle that you flick back and forth to let the grinds come out broke off inside the unit.fixable? 707=837-8916 Thanks Anne

Look inside the grinder, The lever is attach to a SPRING .
May be the lever is disconnected (unhooked) from the spring.

AND YES IS FIXABLE.

It cost you about $15-$30 for the parts.

Cleaned the Gaggia MDF grinder and now it won't start

  1. check the supply wire IF IT NEEDS CHANGING CHANGE IT
  2. check the switch IF IT NEEDS CHANGING CHANGE IT
  3. check the thermo fuse if it is built in ( if it is resettable than reset) if it is not resettable than just make one bridge from wire for testing( you will need to input resettable one if motor is ok)
  4. check the electro motor and bearings IF REWINDING IS NEEDED GO TO MOTOR REWINDING WORKSHOP (ASK FOR CHANGE OF BEARINGS TOO)

No cream on the espresso when dispensed

I was having this trouble with Lavazza beans and Morrisons (horrible) beans. I switched to Formula 6 from James' Gourmet Coffee on the internet and every cup has a great crema layer and good taste.
With the old beans I could get an occasional good cup, it seemed this was more of a problem if the machine had been switched on for a long time before making the cup. I use a Gaggia machine with a Gaggia MDF grinder on 8 or 9 setting, with the new beans I now get a great cup all the time so I'm going to try more the James' range!

Broken Handle on Coffee Grinder

Nice unit! Replace the part. Try www.smallappliance.com.

If you want to try to glue it first, get a product from 3 M. I think they call it super strength glue. Scrape off all traces of whatever you used before. Follow the instructions exactly.
