Half of the screen goes black

While watching our 73" Mitsubishi WD-73732 model tv , the screen will sometimes go black on the left side of the screen......we usually turn the tv off and wait a few minutes then turn it back on to a full picture again........we are experiencing other problems with the audio off the picture, and sometimes on our local channel we loose the audio completly,,and we think this is due to our outside dish, but we believe the left side screen black out is something wrong with the tv....

Mitsubibishi wd series 73"..Mitsubishi ws series 73" dlp. Works fine but after several hours of viewing screen scrambles then goes blue and sound goes off. I can switch to another input and watch ama

A couple of suggestions, if only on cable and using a box disconnect the set and box from power and after several minutes repower and see if a reboot helps.

The two models listed here both should also have a soft reset done with the original remote and the set on---Menu,1,2,3, enter.

The way that you change the color on this TV is thru the audio/video menu, under Perfect Color. It show you how in your owners manual on page 74. If you no longer have the owners manual you can downloaded it here http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/pdf/ownersguides/WD-73732.pdf

Mitsubishi WD-73732 TV

It could be a bad lamp but I've run into many of these TVs with bad color wheel assemblies. Also, if you are getting a dialog box coming up with these words," airflow blocked, TV will shutdown ..." that's a defective thermal fuse.

This is a job for a mitsubishi authorized service center. A tech can disassemble the light engine and confirm that the wheel is the problem. If you're still in warranty, great. If you're only recently out of warranty, call mitsubishi for assistance. Remember that persistance pays off when dealing with large corporations. You very seldom get what you're looking for on the first call or from the first person you speak to.
