Songs within songs; how can I reformat?

your memory is got corrupted. please reformat it fully.

The standard connection type of C200 series is MTP = Media Transfer Protocol. In this mode you can see the connected device as a portable player.

Songs that are put on the player in UMS = Universal Mass Storage mode (also called MSC = Mass Storage Class), seeing the device as a removable disk can only be seen in the players' UMS mode and vice versa.

Check the setting of the USB mode on the display of the C250:

Main Menu
> Settings / USB / Autodetect or MSC mode

Autodetect = MTP mode: computer sees the player Sansa C250.
MSC mode: computer sees a removable disk.

Now 2 things could have happened:

1. Music is put on the player in MSC mode and now the player is
connected in MTP mode or vice versa.

2. There are bad sectors or corrupted files are transferred on the players' removable disk.

• In case of bad sectors a recovery is possible: in MSC mode perform check disk as told in the link above.

• In case of corrupted files a format of the device is needed. First a backup of all data has to be made. Next perform format. This can be done in 2 ways:

Option 2. having problems with the disk or data on the players' disk can also be solved by updating the firmware.

look on your mp3 player to see if you have multiple copies of songs, i had this happen with one of mine

go into your menu go into veiw all songs then go to play all

You could format your player and start over? Right click in C250/internal memory and format? Should bring you back to fresh player with no songs or pics.

Hi you need to reformat that unit to pc! because you have corrupted songs or you have virus in your unit!

DB is corrupted - reformatting will partially erase the native formatting of the player, so you may have to get the latest firmware upgrade to resolve the issue - restore key formatting elements.

Am not sure which of the 2 actions we did solved the problem...but we installed the CD that came with it (my daughter has a Sansa C260 and her CD was already installed in the computer and we thought I didn't have to install mine). But we resorted on installing mine too in case it would help with the problem, and then we re-loaded all the songs into my Sansa C250 at a slower pace, although I really don't know if the quicker pace did cause the problem. But now my Sansa C250 is now able to record any song correctly.

if you have windows media player you can put the CD in a select "Rip" and then the songs will be in the library then you go to "Sync" and then pick the songs you want and then press "Start Sync"

The Sandisk site says that your dad's device should play .wav, .mp3 and .wma files. Has the player EVER worked? I got a C250 for my wife as a Christmas present and my computer recognized but refused to communicate with it UNTIL I DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED THE FIRMWARE UPDATE. The player was a paperweight until then. It turned on and played the demo files pre-loaded on it, but I couldn't transfer a single file into it. Just a thought. Here's the link:
