Memory card Sandisk 4GB gives error memory card

The S50 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card, and will not work in the S50. You will have to confine your choices to cards 2GB and smaller.

Hi sir
#1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
# 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
# 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
# 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
# 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
# 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Memory card error replaced card but still get error message?

Is it the SD memory card? or the Micro HDD(4GB) you're pertaining to. In case of micro hdd not detected or error, micro hdd socket(CF) assembly has a problem most likely, need to be replaced. SD card; check your SD card's capacity, it can handle only up to 2GB or try to format your card elsewhere and re insert it again in your camcorder, if it will prompt you "FORMAT SD CARD?" you're lucky

Sorry for the extreme delay in answering your question: I've been trawling for old unanswered questions today and yours came up. The following answer will undoubtedly be way too late to be of use to you, but may assist others searching FixYa for an answer to the same problem.

You have been mistaking SD cards for SDHC cards. They look the same but are different, and your camera cannot use SDHC cards as it was designed before they existed. The limitation is due to the hardware in your camera so it cannot be updated to SDHC standards.

Your 2GB card was definitely an SD card as SDHC cards have a minimum capacity of 4GB, and 2GB SD cards are the maximum capacity which your camera can handle. Your only fix is to either stick to 2GB maximum capacity SD cards or to replace the camera with one which is SDHC compatible.

MEMORY CARD ERROR

From what I can see here, the card's size is too large that your camera couldn't support or handle. Maybe your camera is just limited to 1GB or 2GB. Try plugging 2GB card and see if it detects it. I had similar prob where I bought a 4GB card and it does exactly the same thing. I consulted the vendor, he said it only supports up to 2GB thus, it's a product limitation...well I'm stuck there hehe, can't be helped at all..

If you are certain that your camera can handle 4GB card or higher, try to plug the 4GB card into a card reader and see if it detets it. If it does, try to reformat the card and try it again to your camera.

Also, 1 possible thing is that your 4GB card is password protected. Was it plugged in to any other device? If it was, try to plug it back to the same device where it was connected and disable the password.

Onother thing is the brand. Some camera is brand sensitive when it comes to cards. You may need to try different brand as well.

Hope this helps. :-)

SD memory card limit?

The A430 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card and will not work with this camera. You need to use SD cards, which max out at 2GB.

Memory Card Error

Sounds like the camera does not support SDHC. Check manual to see if this camera supports high capacity SD cards.

Message: Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I recently bought a DMC-TZ3 and have been researching memory cards. Several sites sell cards with the camera and list the card type. I would suggest buying one of these cards. Any cards larger than 2gb must be SDHC type SD cards. There appear to different types of SDHC cards, 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. Check out Wikipedia.org for a description. 2.0 cards are not compatable for devices developed prior to 2.0 so that may be the reason for the camera problem. So far I haven't seen anything that states what type SDHC card the camera requires. I found a computer memory site that that sells memory that they say will work. There may be others.
