Sony tva-ve170 keeps going into protect why???

Protect on a sony usually means there is a problem in the amp section. On that model, it would probably need to have the entire amp pcb replaced.

There is some short inside the internal circuit board. Normally, this short will occur to its audio output section. If any audio output IC get shorted, the set will switch to protect mode. If this mode should chage to normal, you have to find out the damaged component, and should replace them with same type and number. OK.

Your stereo went into protect mode to prevent complete failure of the amplifier inside that radio. Most of the time this happens from playing the stereo real loud for a real long time and it overheats. Most of the time disconnecting the receiver/stereo and letting it cool all the way down or at least 5 minutes and then reconnecting it to the power source will reset the protection mode. You want to make sure you are keeping the radio cool. Don't stack anything on top of it and try keeping a small fan blowing on it to expedite the heat out from the unit. Also turning it down every now and then to let everything cool down a bit will help prevent it from going into protection mode as well.

disconnect all the speakers and turn it on. if it does not go into protect mode, then youve got a bad speaker or wire. good luck

first check for any loose speaker wire in the back as this will cause the unit to go into protect mode if the bare speaker wire is touching, if thats not the case then there is a problem with the unit internaly and would be hard to tell whats wrong with it without looking at it.

First, disconnect all speaker wires from the unit and power it back up. If it does not go into protect. post a comment and I can walk you thru troubleshooting. If it goes into protect, it needs to be serviced.
