Your description says will turn on..but it looks like you describe will NOT turn on.. a dead unit.. ok, i have same issue and lucky enough to have TWO of these, the second one with a very different problem. I will troubleshoot between the two and get one working, will post results back here.. preliminary web search suggests unit has a DC to DC onboard voltage converter and DOES incorporate a fuse or more.. hopefully only a fuse is blown.

NIkon cool pix 5400 will not turn on. Battery is fully charged.

A couple of possibilities. The battery is bad and not accepting a charge. Replace the battery. The battery terminals are dirty. Using cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol, clean then fully dry the metal contacts on the battery and inside the battery compartment. Before turning it back on, be sure everything is fully dry.

How to charge the coolpix s 4000

This link will allow you to download your camera's manual. If you look on page 18, all of the information is there. If you lost your cable or AC adaptor (model EH-68P). Or you want to purchase the model MH-63 external battery charger, you can do so directly from Nikon or an online camera store such as Adorama.

Nikon cool pix s4100 won't charge.

Take the camera back to the place of purchase, should be under warranty and let them sort it out, at the very list they should offer a battery replacement.

Hello there, for transferring media from the memory card to your computer it is much better to remove the memory card from the camera slot and use a card reader as the operating system of your computer will detect it as new media found and you can easily drag and drop the files you want to utilize and will save battery on your camera as well.

Same Problem

Could be battery contacts. Take a pencil with an eraser. Gently rub the battery contacts both inside the camera and on the battery itself. Install the battery and try it. Best of luck.

Laptop does not work with AC adaptor, does not charge. Mother board issue

You may be able to get a battery charger but its rare.

If you do wish to use the AC adapter, take care with positive and negative. Also the voltage of the battery is actually lower than the AC adapter in order to get charged. I don't know what is going to happen if you do choose to use AC adapter as battery. 75% chance that it will work.

Good luck!

Nikon coolpix 4600.

Hi I found this info on the Nikon Australia website:

"System Error" or "Lens Error" message in LCD monitor trnsp.gif Question My COOLPIX camera displays a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message. What should I do? trnsp.gif Answer Having a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message displayed on the camera's LCD monitor would generally indicate that your camera needs servicing. A System Error is a general error which can be caused by many things: lens problem, CF Card problem, general camera failure, etc. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
  1. Use the memory card that originally came with your camera (or a Nikon approved card).
  2. Remove and replace the battery.
On the other hand, a Lens Error generally means that an error has occured during the lens operation. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove and replace the battery.
  3. Turn on the camera.
If the above tips do not help, your camera must be sent to our Nikon Authorised Service Centres, there are no user serviceable parts in our Nikon COOLPIX cameras. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and we will do everything to repair your Nikon camera as quickly as possible. Click Here for our Nikon Authorised Service Centres details.

Seems you may just have to remove and replace the battery - sort of like a Windows Restart to fix a computer problem! - this would reset your camera's memory.

Hope this helps.
