  1. Tray is worn or hard water build up
  2. 5989JA1005H ice maker assembly
  3. You could try removing it and then clean the cube tray with a ice maker descaler and then use a food grade silicone spray to coat the cube holes and follow the manufacturer directions.
  4. But I would just change it and be done.

SOURCE: Ice tray sometimes stuck when dumping off ice

Your icemaker tray has an update for the water flowing over the tray.  You will need to call a qualified LG technician to get it replaced.  Also, the tray is twisted because it binds itself against the hinge pin on the left side.  To stop this, spray some cooking spray oil in the left hinge pin and it should unbind itself and return to normal.

SOURCE: LG ice maker only making two ice cubes at a time

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?

SOURCE: Ice tray sometimes stuck when dumping off ice

I am an attorney near Philadelphia who is considering initiating a class action against LG related to the defective design of their ice maker. I have clients in different states who have had problems that LG fixed, but the problems re-occurred after the warranty expired. I've been advised by mechanics that leaks are inevitable based on the design. Apparently this is a design that LG had used years ago but had discontinued for a while because of leak problems. I'm usually on the defense side of product liability cases, but this seems to be a common defect. If you are interesed in such a suit, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. LG refrigerator not dumping ice.

I own a LG LFXS24566S and it was making ice but not dumping it.
If I pressed the reset button, it would dump the ice and fill the tray again but once frozen it would still not dump the ice. A technician was dispatched to replace the ice-maker but the problem remained. During the next visit, he had me "reboot" the refrigerator by removing power for five minutes, which fixed the issue.

LSC27925ST ice maker tray not level. How to fix?

If water is splashing out it is not the pressure if the ice maker is the twist tray type. The tray is distorted and needs to be fixed. remove the icemaker 1 screw and one connector, very carefully remove the sensor on the bottom of the tray, remove the tray and place it in hot water, so that you can twist the left front up a bit about 1/4 inch then put in cold water to retain the bend. Try a cycle this should cure the splashing out. issue.

Ice maker stopped working in lg refrigerator lfx25976st/00

I just slide the ice tray to the left and down till it unhooks from the right hand side. Then unhook the wires from under the tray. To replace just repeat in reverse order. I have to take our ice tray out ever so often to clean it since we have well water.
There is a little square button up under the left hand side in the back. If you press that with a screwdriver or butter knife it will reset the ice tray and it return it to fill with water.

Its not producing ice anymore.

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Samsung Refrigerator makes ice, but then quits.

I have this same thing happening, also. I have not been able to find a solution to this issue, however. The ejector blades push against the ice, apparently a gear pops loose with a loud clicking sound and the heater either does not work or never turns on. I end up killing the breaker to thr refrig,`removing the icemaker, letting it wrm up dumping the ice and putting it back in.

Ice maker problem

Clear the Ice tray by pressing the button under the ice maker. The problem is that the ice is in the first couple of slots is not dumping and the tray tries to fill again and over flows. I pressed the button and cleared the tray of ice (This will tilt the tray and twist it to empty it) that was re-frozen several times without dumping. My ice maker works perfectly after I did the above. I think the problem arises if the door did not close completely. I stopped hanging the dish cloth on the door and on my LG Dish wisher. I hope this helps

If you pop the front cover off the ice maker you will find a screw with a plus and minus on it. Adjust it and that will cut the water fill down and should solve the overfill problem. If the ice is not dumping spray the tray with Pam and that should solve the dump problem.
