Cable Network Routing with Zyxel 600

Seems to be that you have cable modem from Scientific atlanta.

1. Turn off the modem and the router.
2. Connect the modem to router with ethernet cable on internet port
3. and computer to router's port no 1.
4. power up your modem and wait for 2 minutes
5. then power up your router and wait for 2 minutes and try to go online on computer.
6. If not , then reset your linksys router by pressing your reset button at the back of the router with help of a pen for 10 sec.
7. then follow the steps again 1 to 5
8. try to go online.
9. if still not , the open up a browser on computer
10. type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit enter on the key board
11. leave the user name blank and type admin in the password box
12. click on subtab of mac address clone under set up tab
13. click on enable and click on clone my pc's mac tab.
14. then click on save settings.
15. and follow the step 1 to 5.

Actually you do not need a cd to connect to internet follow the steps below and try

1. Connect your cable to cable modem
2. Connect your pc to cable modem using a Network cable
3. switch on the cable modem (If you do not have a power button then just plugin to power outlet)
4. Now open your browser and type google.com if you get an error
5. Call your customer care ask for techincal support . Now give them your Cable modem device number and may be MAC if they ask for
6. Reboot your cable model and type google.com again
7. You should be good tho go

The powerline modems are affected by the other connected equipment in your house and the wiring phases.

For BOTH modems try the following first:

-Connect the modems directly to the wall socket, don't use an extension lead.

-If you have a surge protecting extension block plugged in in the next/adjacent socket, try plugging it in on a different mains socket.

If this does not work, you may want to think again about routing an Ethernet cable between floors.
Higher performance and lower cost.

get a wireless router and usb dongle for the second computer. Establish a home network and connect the wireless desktop to the existing cable modem via the wireless router.

It sounds like the LInksys that they replaced was also a router. A router will route packets to multiple pc's that are connected to it. The cable modem just sees the router as 1 pc. When you use a switch, the cable modem will see all of your PC's. and Comcast just allows 1 pc. You will need to buy a router to use more than 1 PC which will be cheaper than using Comcasts Home Networking service which will network up to 4 pcs

Change Settings, Be sure they on the same domain & workgroup settings and they are all shared.

If you are connecting via usb you will need to install all software and drivers on your pc before plugging modem in. If you did install them already you may need to reinstall
If you connect through ethernet (RJ45 terminated network cable), you may have a firewall preventing regular acess to network.

solutions

1) restart pc and modem it may work just with this

2)USB only: reinstall all modem software, then restart all.

3)Ethernet only (network cable), |Restart all and disable firewall. If this does not work you may need to change network settings on your computer (fo example change IP from static to dynamic).
