SOURCE: how to upgrape Firmware,version 403, April 15, 2004
If you do not already have the firmware file then first go to this link to download and bookmark the site as it is difficult to find through Motorola's main website:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DiscontinuedProducts
Once you have the firmware in a folder that you can remember then go to Start>Run>type 'http://192.168.10.1' and a logon window appears.
Username: motorola
Password: admin
A webpage appears with tabs across the top. The last tab is 'Firmware Update'. Select that tab and follow the instructions which will ask for the location of the update. Browse to the folder where you placed the firmware file and continue with the directions to run the firmware, paying close attention to having your power remain on until the update is confirmed. Also on the Motorola downloads web site glean all of the documentation you can as these are discontinued hardware items. Hope this helps. Steve Medley

Hi Carnie. It sounds like you are in a pickle. I think youpaid WAY too much for the laptop and that's typical of Hardly Normal. Over pricingeverything and sticking you with a huge loan. Given her/your situation I wouldconsider talking to a Credit assessor. There are institutions (advertised on TVetc.) that offer to sort out your credit problems. They will stop the harassment, stop the loan, stop interest and structure the loan in such a way that you canafford it. These finance institutions are relentless. I have been in exactlythe same situation after a car accident a few years ago I was off work foralmost a year and the banks and credit card institutions are completelyruthless. You are entitled by law, especially under duress, to write to thefinance institutions explaining your situation and asking for a suspension ofinterest and a renegotiation of payments. They will never tell you this as theysee it as a way of you getting out of the loan. Search the internet for thedebt management services here in Australia. I'm sure you will find the rightpeople who can help you.
