WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IT WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE

When I put the car in drive you can feel the transmission engage but when you let off the brake and press the gas it will not go anywhere. You can rev the engine and it will start to inch forward. If I cut the engine off then restart then shift to drive it will engage and start to move forward for 30 yards or so then it disengages and start to slow down. I replaced the transmission filter and fluid about 50 miles ago. For a moment a light on the dash will come on and it indicates SRS then the light goes out. Also sometimes it will not shift out of 1st gear but if I stop cut the car off wait a few minutes start it back up put in drive let off the brake start to drive forward it will shift just fine. It's like it gets locked in 1st gear and just will not shift. Please help thanks

Yes so I replaced the filter and fluid about 50 miles ago. It seemed like it fixed the problem until now.

Were these symptoms and problems present before you replaced the tranny fluid and filter?

Its the electronic shift control located just under the battery ontop the transmission replace or repair will solve the issue

it'll go into drive but once it reaches 1500 rpm it'll drop into neutral as a safety because at this rpm it is being told to shift gear and when it fails to do so it safely goes into neutral

it will go into reverse just fine and park and you can run all the low drive gears until you reach 1500 rpm then it'll cut it off

i pulled mine out re soldered bad components on the board to fix it but im an electronics engineer it may be easier for you to just replace it

Location of transmission dip stick

Right behind the air box on the 2.4L engine. Note that this model car requires that the engine is off when checking the stick (unlike most cars). The procedure is to first get the engine up to operating termperature then put the car in park, engage the emergency brake, then put the car in drive low, drive 2, neutral, reverse then park. Shut car off then check transmission fluid level. Source - 2010 Chrysler Sebring owner's manual.

Car will not move when put into gear

Transmission is a possibility, check the transmission fluid, especially if its automatic. Get a color chart for the fluid to help you. if there are metal shavings, the fluid is flakey, looks metallic, glimmers, or leaves grainy texture then take it to a shop. (Just my advice, might not be the issue.)

1998 audi a4 transmission engaged when depressing brake

You have two problems. First you probably have a bad brake master cylinder, or a severe brake fluid leakage somewhere. Second forcing it into park damaged your transmission.

How to shift into 4 LO in 2004 jeep grand cherokee

The correct procedure should be described in detail in your owner/operation manual.
For a 2004, 90 % sure that if it's a quadra trac you have to immobilize the vehicule, put your transmission shifter to neutral keeping foot on the brake obviously, engage the low on transfer case pulling the transfer case shifter, engage the transmission to drive
If it's a select track, normally you have to keep the vehicule moving very slowly (2 mph), move the transmission shifter to neutral, push the transfer case shifter to the right and pull it firmly. Once transfer case engaged, put back the transmission shifter to drive.
It could take few seconds to engage and disengage depending on the temperature and road condition. Do not try it on dry surface (preferable on mud, snow and wet surface). Drive at low speed because you will feel that it's very low geared.
By the way, follow the reverse process to reestablish normal mode

Hope it will help

2000 honda accord v6, auto. all the lights on the

The lights have nothing to do with your car not going in reverse. I know this is going to sound silly but, are you releasing the parking brake? That brake is the lever between the front seats. Are you taking your foot off the brake?

I know they sound silly but you would be surprised at how often this happens with th eparking brake.

When you put the car in reverse can you feel the transmission engaging? You should feel a slight **** when you put it in reverse with your foot on the brake. If you are not feeling this, your transmission needs to be repaired.

Will not engage into park and will not start now

The vehicle should start if you put the transmission into neutral. I would try to let the car roll just a hair, apply the brake pedal and put the car into park.
