Seems this problem is a firmware related issue. Re do the firware from the marker.
1.download the appropriate firmware from Transcend. 2.press and hold reset button for 2 seconds 3.run the firmware updater 4.press and hold "play" button while connecting to system. 5.the updater will detect the player and it will upgrade the firmware.
It would vary as its 4gb but depending the size of your mp3 or since your ripping from CD it'd probably be a high bit rate so more space could you not clear out some space? 4gb usually holds 1,000 songs based off a 4 minute interval
BE SURE NOT TO DELETE YOUR FIRWARE, ONLY THE SONGS,FILES,ETC.
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, Apps, etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. BE CAREFUL and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.

Just what is an unspecified "song" anyway, or a document or a file - data-size-wise? The device holds 'data' and is finite.
You don't name the player. But if it's sort of standard and appears to a PC as a removable storage device you can examine its contents and it properties (size and free space, for example). Compare the two. Delete the files you don't want to make space available.
When they say that an ipod can hold "500" songs the don't actually know that it can it all depends on the format of the song, the version of firmware etc. my suggestion would be take of all your songs re-format them to mp3 or to something that takes up less space and then put them all back on and there you have it... please comment and rate for any help please pm me... lol
900 songs is completely unrealistic - the actual number it should hold is about 400 (if you don't have any recordings or any other files taking up space). I don't want to upset you, but that is literally the worst mp3 player ever made - i think that you will find in the upcoming months that it will give you numerous problems. If it's possible to return it, I would. The company that made it no longer supports it.
Sorry I don't know where the "Profiling requires 4mg of free space" came from. But one thing I do know is that one GB of space should hold up to approx 600-650 songs unless they are WAV files then they take up 30 megabytes per song.
It needs some free space to create the Music Database or the Artist, Album, Song information.Generally between 6 - 10 MB for each GB of music on the device is sufficient.
If it shows up in My Computer, you can manually delete some files from the MUSIC folder.
If not, you can use the following software to erase everything and start over.
Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.
You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.
- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.
Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.
Same thing happened to me. I was using windows media player to sync my song and it says my player was using 260 mb of space even though it was formatted time after time. I simply loaded as many song as I could fit on the player. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in, windows media now showed that missing 260 mb of space as available. The only catch is that the song I had already uploaded on to the player were not shown on the sync list.
