SOURCE: My Rheem hot water heater stopped putting out hot

If you are not familiar with the element, I would get someone that is familiar with one and have them do it. It's not something I would recommend you do based on your question. There's electrical, pressurized water tank, and a whole lot of water that may cause you to have a worse bad day.

SOURCE: My hot water will not get hot at all. Model

Your upper thermostat on the hot water tank may be shorting out causing your breaker to trip. Remove the outer panel door on the side of the hot water tank and test for power going to the elements. Also check for water as the tank may be leaking and causing the short

SOURCE: I have a 80 gallon Ge smartwater hot water heater

Normally no, but for a circuit breaker to activate, there has to be excessive current draw somewhere. Is the circuit breaker exclusive to the water heater? If it is then the heating element may have shoirted internaly. Fit a new element and restest. Don't forget to check the condition of your sacrifical annode too.

SOURCE: New hot water heater cause smelly hot water.

U can clorinate ur water heater 1 gallon will do it. But you should try changing the anode rod(to aluminum) or removing it first followed by a complete drain, purge and refill.

Non-working electric water heater suddenly starts working

It’s obviously leaking. If Liner is leaking replace heater. If piping is leaking, replace leaking pipe.

My Rheem electric hot water heater occasionally leaks water then stops completely. This has done this three times now over the pact couple years.

It sounds like TP valve is releasing water, but you don't describe where water is located.
Run through process-of-elimination check list on following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Leaking-water-heater.html

1) If problem is TP valve, event could be caused by 'stacking'
Stacking is where you draw amounts of hot water many times in succession.
Top part of heater is plenty hot because water heater is keeping up with hot water draw.
Incoming cold water enters bottom of tank through dip tube causing thermostat to read cool temperature and activate burner or element. This causes higher than ordinary temperatures at upper part of tank and TP valve reacts by releasing water.

2) TP valve could be going bad.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-TP-valve.html

3) Improper venting can cause gas water heater to have water on top of tank or dripping down inside tank where it shows on floor after rusting out combustion chamber.

4) Thermostats are old or not reading correct temperature.
Turn down thermostats:

Replace gas valve on gas water heater, and flush tank.

Energy smart hot water heater not giving ample amount of hot water both elements ohm at 12.5

element-connection-450.jpg
For images and product information
For manual

You checked ohms, did you check for 240V across lower element when lower element is turned on?

Energy smart electric water heater
has a control box on top of unit. Water heater does not have typical thermostats that can be tested and replaced. Temperature sensors located above each element send information to control box through small black and red wires. Temperature sensor sells for about $40, but there is no test listed that shows how to determine when sensors fail.

Potential problems:
-Temperature sensor is not reading correct temp
-Control box not processing correct temperature information
-Selector on control box set to 2, 3 or 4
-Thermostat temp on control box set lower than 120 degrees F
-Sediment build-up starting to surround lower element so water doesn't circulate (see if drain valve runs full-open
