SOURCE: CST1000 Black & Decker Cordless Trimmer/Edge won't start

http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/blackdecker/CST2000_TYPE_1

Part number #243614-00.
It's a microswitch made by Honeywell that costs about 5 bucks plus shipping.
The attached file has the schematic and parts list.
The CST2000 is well worth spending a few bucks to keep it going. Finding a local B&D authorized service center near you will even save you the shipping as they can order it for you.
Every other component is pretty dependable- the motor, battery, wiring, charging system, spool system- all built to last.
Only down side is you really only get 20 to 25 minutes of hard weedwhacking before you need to recharge. Of course, it's time for a cold beer in the pool by then.

SOURCE: Black and Decker 16 in Hedge Trimmer

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

BLACK AND DECKER CORDLESS POWER PACK FOR 12 VDC SLA BATTERY #243215 for a Grass Hog Cordless Trimmer

Sorry, but I haven't solved any problem. I'm still waiting on the experts to solve my problem from June 16 on my trimmer not operating even with new fully charged battery. As for your replacement, I would suggest retail stores that sell trimmers, such as Home Depot, Lowes, Ace hardware stores or maybe B&D website.

Black decker problem

This could be a lot of things. One thing to check is the vents on the head. IF they are clogged then it over heats. Another thing is the battery connections and temperature. When it fails take the battery out if you can and see if it is hot.

You can recharge the battery at any time. I usuly use mine then when done using it I put it back on the charger so I know it will be charged the next time I need it.

I have a black & decker gh400 and the auto line feeder does not work

You will need to buy a new feeder head, if your model's head unscrews, normaly when these stop working there is not much you can do to fix it.

Reloaded string empties and shreds continuously in seconds

It sounds like you may need to replace the head. It is designed to advance and stop, but your's isn't stopping. Try this: Clean the inside of the head and connection to the machine well. Put some graphite inside the spool and where it connects to the machine; be generous with the graphite. Put the head back on with some line properly wound onto the spoo (note arrows on back of spool). With the machine off tap the head on the ground enough to disperse the graphite thoroughly in the head. Now, push the head as though to advance the line, and pull on the line. If it advances a little and stops, it is working. Do this several times to be sure. If you can get it working like this, you're good to go. If not, replace the spool. Even with the new spool, occasionally put some graphite in it to keep the line advance smooth!

Best regards, --W/D--.....Please feel free to rate this solution. Thanx!

String Runs Out

You are most likely keep bumping the head on the ground, causing the string to unwind. Hold weedtrimmer off the ground.

The trimmer head on my Black and Decker cordless trimmer/edger seems to fall a few mm and the won't spin unless I push it back up the shaft. This is the second time I've had this happen in a unit after...

You probably have lost your return spring which will hold the head tight to the trimmer.Check to see if you have lost the spring. I would suggest looking on-line for a exploded view with parts list to see if you have any parts missing including the spring I mentioned first!
