Sounds like electronic interference with the radio and engine. This happens and often to stop this, the antenna and powers wires are shielded.

SOURCE: OUtboard motor tilt not working

There should be a hydraulic bypass valve screw on the tilt assembly. Usually a large slotted screw driver is needed to loosen the valve. The motor can now be lifted manually, but not with ease.

I have a maintainance manual for this engine (I have the same one) with pages of wiring diagrams. What specific system/area are you interested in, I could scan in the page(s) and email them to you.

SOURCE: Yamaha 115hp 2 stroke Outboard Boat Motor. Went

is it carbureted or fuel injected? are your warning horns working? if it iscarbureted then a few easy test can be done to find out. if its fuel injected then its a little harder but not impossible.(1) check compression. without the year model I'm giving you a average numbers. all cylinders need to be over 100 lbs and equal each other within 5 lbs.(2) check spark. use a spark gap tester all cylinders should jump a half inch gap. if you have good compression and good spark fuel is the problem nine times out of ten. clean fuel lines replace primer bulb and replace all fuel filters. Yamaha has a gravity filter under the engine coul. take it to the lake if no improvement. clean carbs. same test to be and fuel system service used of fuel injected engines. if no improvement in engine preformance then you will have to take it to a dealer to test with computer.

I have a JBL1004 amp in my ski boat. I killed the battery listening to the stereo and caused the battery to lose a cell and drop to 10 volts. The stereo cut out as one would expect. I have replaced the...

if the protect light comes on then you might not have enough voltage running to the amp so you would need to add a second battery just for that amp.

My mercury 35 hp outboard motor idle's fine but won't run

While at the river try to adjust the fuel air mixture. When you are on the water it puts the engine under a load and if that dont work then dont be afraid to bump up the idle stop screw slightly.

Motor spits and sputters

If it is old enough to have points then I would check them and make shure they are clean and gapped at .020. if that is noth the problem then it sounds like a fuel issue. Either a weak pump or a dirty carb.

Yamaha 70 took on water. Drained everything and it ran fine in the yard. But now, even on a charger it won't turn over enough to start.

test your battery it should have no less than 12.5 volts un hooked and when the motor is running you should have no less than 13.5 volts if not then u have a bad regulator recitfier if both are good then you have a dead short and i would install a battery cut off switch to your main power

30 horse power '88 Mariner motor won't stay started

If you have portable tanks, some have screens under the coupler assembly. They could be dirty. If you have more than one tank, you could switch out on the water. Make sure the bubble pump is hard and full of gas. It is not uncommon for some outboards to need choking to start even when warm. This is an updraft carburetor characteristic.

Mercury outboard over charging

Your motor is fine. It needs to put out more than 12 volts or the battery will not charge. Most alternators put out between 13 - 17 volts, so this is well within the range.
