I'm sorry. It was a false alarm. In fact the lead to the battery charger was faulty and the battery was not properly charged. By fiddling with it, we managed to recharge the battery fully and get the camera working.

SOURCE: problems with getting pictures from a camera

Forget the USB cable...easiest way..buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop.

    The easiest way is a USB card reader for the computer. Remove the storage card and put it in the reader. It will be cheaper than a cable unless it is a standard USB connector lead USB to Mini-USB.

    My advice is don't even try to turn it on.
    If you turn it on and use it and then look at the result you will be sorry you turned it on.
    It was made in 2005 and was an instant failure.

    Where can i get a manual
    This website might be able to help. They say the manuals are free. I didn't see a DC21, but saw a DC50, which would be better than nothing, and a lot the same. They have a link to get you in touch with someone who might have a manual for you.
