Acer aspire 7720z backlight not working

Remove the SSD and put a additional new SSD with Max capacity else use external storage

Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, or a series of LED lights.

In regards to the Acer Aspire 7720 series of Notebook PC's, the Backlight is a CCFL.

Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.
(Approximately 2mm Wide, by close to the height of the LCD screen, Tall )

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power (Electricity) of the laptop, for the Backlight, and LCD screen.

90 PERCENT OF THE TIME THE FAULT IS THE INVERTER.

The thin plastic frame in front of the LCD screen, (Resembles a picture frame), is the Display Bezel.

The screen Inverter is mounted towards the bottom of the LCD screen, and behind the Display Bezel.

This you already know. Posting for those who read this solution in the future.

Reset your BIOS, by disconnection your battery.

After a few minutes, put it back in and its reset.

use an external keyboard then you can hit F2

if it's anything like my 7720z, then your laptop should have an activation button at the top bezel, between the keyboard and LCD, where the power button is. It's logo is an ellipsis with some scribble inside.

Here is the link to your service manual, when you click on it and bring it up...it is a pdf file so you'll need adobe or another pdf reader, go to page 40, that is the directions for resetting and removing the BIOS/hard drive password. Good luck

Please resetting your LCD resolution ratio to 1024*768.

first i would check the ac adapter
if you are sure its ok, then look at the pin
inside the ac jack, if it moves at all it could be bad

Get a flashlight and shine it on the screen. If you can see the desktop etc, although faintly then either the screen's backlight has failed or the invertor that drives it.

If you can;t see anything at all it's likely the screen has failed completely.
