Solution for nikon "lens Cover Error"

Nikon Coolpix S5/S6 “LENS COVER ERROR”

In this document I have given a solution to fix the problem most of the Nikon coolpix S5/S6 cameras face. At power –on it give an error “Lens Cover Error”

Before opening the camera I would suggest you to take a snap of each and every step. Because it will helpful while you are fixing the screws back. There are many screws which has to be opened. So better take a photo of each and every step.

IMP NOTE: Remove the battery before opening the camera. Use some antistatic strip to prevent the components from getting damaged Or Keep your feet touched to the floor such that your body remains grounded.

Follow the below steps in the given order:

Step 1> Remove the screws at the bottom of camera
4e12f9d.jpg

Step 2>Remove the side screws
df869da.jpg

Step 3> Remove the side screws as given below .
3822da5.jpg

Step 4>Lift the cover and remove the cables which connects the switches to the camera. These cables are fitted in a small connector. There is a tiny lock (present for few connectors)  on the connector, which on pulling it across its hinges, will open and the cable comes out easily. You need not pull it forcefully.

Step 5> Remove the screw as shown below

Step 14>
14df535.jpg

Step 15> Removing at this stage is a bit difficult. You will have to open it cleverly. Lift it from the side as shown below.
3eb02dc.jpg

Step 16>
c526f37.jpg

Step 17>Below figure shows the lens cover and the stepper motor which controls the lens civer.
b1dbf70.jpg

Step 18> To remove the stepper motor remove the screws as given below.
8809d48.jpg

Step 19> Below figure shows the stepper motor used for lens cover
91b5685.jpg

Step 20> Below figure shows the stepper motor which is used to control the lens cover. There is a small white switch on this motor. This Switch is used by the camera to detect whether the camera lens cover has is open or closed. When we switch on the camera the lens cover (which is shown in step 17) opens and in turn it presses the white switch show below. If the lens cover is unable to press this switch, then the error “Lens cover Error” flashes on the camera.
I would suggest 3 different ways to solve this problem.
1>     Fix some glue on the white switch shown in the below figure, such that it remains pressed forever. Because of this, camera will never give the error message. Remove the lens cover (which is shown in step 17) forever. You don’t  need it anymore. Now fix the below stepper motor back in the camera and follow the steps in the reverse order to fix the camera components.
2>     Buy a new stepper motor from the market. Its quite cheap. Fix it back in the camera. Here you need not remove the lens cover. Follow the steps in the reverse order to fix the camera.
3>     In this method you can open the stepper motor to fix the problem. Now follow the steps given below.
99cd6b4.jpg

Step 21>
Remove the screws as shown below.
71066aa.jpg

Step 22> Remove the gears one-by-one. See the placements because you have place them again in the right order.
1bea487.jpg

Step 23>
ef8bb9c.jpg

Step 24> The gear shown below is the culprit. Remove it. There is a tension spring present inside this gear. Do remember the position of this gear before removing this gear. Its placement is very important.
921f969.jpg

Step 25> The spring is shown below.
c6e7841.jpg

Step 26> Now the switch shown in step 20 does not get pressed because of reduced tension of the spring. Increase the tension of this spring by pulling it in opposite direction. Place the spring back in the gear and follow the steps in the reverse order to solve the problem. Now because of increased tension of the spring, the lens cover will be able to Press the switch shown in fig 20.

Error in Cover Sensor (PS14) in M Toner Container

Description Unable to detect opening of the Toner Container Inner
Cover when removing the Toner Container.
Remedy Identify the cause of the error whether it is due to link
mechanism to open the Toner Container Inner Cover or
problem at the Toner Container Inner Cover Sensor side. ?
1. Perform the user mode (Adjustment/Maintenance>
Replace Specified Toner) to check if the Toner Container
Inner Cover opens normally (damage, slide of shaft area,
etc.). ?
2. Check if the Toner Container Inner Cover Sensor is
soiled and the installation of the sensor. ?
3. Check the service mode (COPIER> I/O> DCON> P024
bit9) to see that the output value of the Toner Container
Inner Cover Sensor is changed normally when opening/
closing the Toner Container Inner Cover. ?
If it is normal, the value becomes 0 by rotating the Set-on
Drive Shaft with the attached tool and opening the Toner
Container Inner Cover. When closing the Toner Container
Inner Cover by hand, it becomes 1. ?
3-1. When the Toner Container Inner Cover is not opened
although the Set-on Drive Shaft rotates, check the drive
system from upstream (Set-on Drive Unit -> Hopper Unit
-> Bottle Base Unit -> Toner Container Inner Cover Unit). ?
If it is damaged, replace the damaged part and then
perform step 5 and later steps. ?
3-2. When the output value is not changed normally
although the Toner Container Inner Cover can be opened/
closed, check the Sensor Harness (to see if the harness
is caught, disconnected or physically removed, *including
the Relay Connector). ?
If there is no problem, replace the sensor. After checking
the output value in step 3, perform step 5 and later steps. ?
4. If the problem is not solved by replacing the foregoing
parts, replace the Drum Driver PCB (UN4) and then
perform step 5 and later steps. ?
5. Clear the error in service mode (COPIER>
FUNCTION> CLEAR> ERR), and then turn OFF and then
ON the main power. ?
6. Replace the toner (reinstall the removed Toner
Container) at least once in user mode (Adjustment/
Maintenance> Replace Specified Toner), and check that
toner replacement can be performed normally.

How do I change the lamp? Lamp came with no directions. This is a HD72.

Hello there,If your movie projector light bulb has stopped working, there are some simple steps to take to get your movies playing again. The hardest part may be finding the correct replacement bulb. There are so many different models with their own specific bulb. Here are some steps to follow to replace your burned out light bulb.
  • Locate the bulb in the movie projector. You may need to use a screwdriver to open the bulb compartment. Check your owner's manual for proper procedures.
  • Step 2.Remove the movie projector light bulb or lamp. The bulb must be cool before you take it out. Use a tissue or cloth to remove the bulb because the glass bulb is very fragile. Do not throw away your bulb yet, you may need it to help find a replacement.
  • Step 3.Find replacement bulb. The Better Lamps website offers a wide variety of light bulb models. From their homepage select the brand of movie projector you have and using the model number from your old bulb, buy a replacement.
  • Step 4Replace the movie projector lamp or light bulb. Do not touch the bulb with your skin. This can transfer oils from you onto the bulb resulting in a hot spot which can make the bulb burst. Use a tissue or cloth to handle the new bulb to screw it back into place and then replace the cover.
