SOURCE: Power on but no picture or sound

Your problem is from the power regulator IC . Its an str type and has to be an original from tosiba or its parts distributors. Now you may have caused more problems as alot of peeps do trying the set over and over again thinking Oh the set will rest its self.. Nope sorry sir if a set goes bad and you try it once , and it dosent come back on . Its time to seek a repair person to repair and troubleshoot the set for you UNless your a technician? If your not Dont try to repair a tv as these have non serviceable parts for the consumer to replace! And can bite ya in the butt, if your not carefull. We techs cannot teach ya overnight how to fix something. Only assit and to point ya in the right direction. Good Luck

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 6400 Power Problems

Sounds like the power pin is either loose or damaged. . . .Happens from jerking or tugging on the cord too much.

Once you get it fixed you need one of these. . .

SOURCE: 42" Vizio - no picture no sound

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

SOURCE: vizio 47" lcd no picture no sound has power

this could be one of two problem. first, check if you have back light. If you do then the problem is with the M/B. Second, if you don't have back light then the inverter is bad and needs to be replace.

Why did my Vizio LED TV go black?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main digital board.
