SOURCE: Red light's on... but no hot water!

OK, inside the unit there are three items, the heating element, thermostat, and thermal fuse. What has happened is the element got too hot and the thermal fuse opened. There is no reset button. In some cases you may run across a defective heating element or thermostat but its not common. The fix would probably be replacement of the thermostat and thermal fuse. For this, you would have to contact a small appliance repair center in your area.

Your blend door in your car isn't functioning properly. The blend door is a part of the box that your heater core is in.

SOURCE: Front side heat element with ring wont light on ( or heat up)

These type of elements are often known as dual elements. They usually have two separate coils. More than likely the center coil has failed. They cannot be repaired and, in the case with your range, cannot be replaced separately. You will need to replace the entire element. Searspartsdirect.com carries parts for your range. Just type in your model number and locate item numbers 5301 and 5302 under the "Cooktop" heading. I do not know which front element your are talking about, but there is a price difference. No, thay aren't interchangeable. They have different wattage ratings. You will need to determine which one it is that you're having problems with. Replacing a single element is not difficult. It can be accomplished easily by following these instructions:

1. Unplug the range before servicing. Even with the unit turned off, there are potentially dangerous voltages present on the wiring harness.
2. Open the oven door and locate the two screws that hold the cooktop in place under the front edge. CAUTION: Do not put any weight on the oven door. You can cause damage to the door springs. Once you remove the screws to the cooktop, close the oven door.
3. With the screws removed, the cooktop will lift up.
4. Use something to prop up the cooktop, or a second person to assist, and carefully remove the mounting bracket to the two front elements. They are assembled together on the same bracket piece.
5. Gently lay the entire assembly on top of the oven box, leaving the cooktop propped up. Disconnect the wires to the affected element and unscrew the mounting clips. NOTE: There are numbered mounting holes on the element, pay attention to which numbers the clips are screwed into.
6. Remove old element. Install mounting clips to new element and reconnect wires. Install new element in mounting bracket and carefully lift back into place on the cooktop and install. NOTE: Use caution when handling the elements, they are extremely fragile. DO NOT touch the ceramic material, or electric coils with your bare hands. Oil transfer form your hands can cause potential hot spots, leading to premature failure of the element.
7. Lower cooktop and secure back in place.

The repair procedures are pretty straight forward. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

No heat in hostess trolley

Probability of the heating elements in ceramic plate and oven going bad at same time is really low. One of your 115 volt lines is not getting power to the plate nor the oven element which needs 230 volts (both 115 volt lines)..

My professional ceramic tools porcelain round brush blow dryer will not work and I cannot reset it. How do I reset it?

There is no reset button on those. There is a thermal breaker in the barrel if the heating coils get to hot. If this sticks open then it wont work but you cannot reset it.

Possible that the heating element is open. You will need to check the continuity of the element, make sure that the thermostat is contacting if not remove and reset if the element is good. The power cord is good as the light comes on.

My Conair Proshine Straightner won't warm up, although the light is on. How do I fix this? ... hot plates not heating and the light says its warming up but the hot plates won't heat up

Most heated hair appliances are protected by a thermistor that will fail if overheated. These are small, about 1/2" long, cylindrical in shape with a pointy end and a wire coming from each end. When they go bad, they do not conduct electricity (zero ohms on a meter). There is a three digit number on the side that is the shutoff temperature. You can get these at Radio Shack.

Don't bypass this safety device.

Using ceramic briquettes with lp gas grill

Many people enjoy using Lp/gas grills for their ease of use and efficiency. Frustrations caused by flare ups and hot spots encourage the use of a wide variety of briquettes and other products. Ceramic briquettes are most commonly used because they provide an even heating surface and last for several uses.

  2. Gas grills most often use ceramic briquettes, lava rocks or, more recently, ceramic tiles in order to distribute heat. Ceramic briquettes come in the traditional shape, lava rocks are similar to those used in landscaping, and tiles only differ from briquettes by shape. Traditional charcoal briquettes can be used, though they maintain several disadvantages. Use
  3. Place briquettes, tiles, or lava rocks in a solid layer on a screen between the heating element and the grill surface, making sure to leave space for air to circulate. Light the grill and check to make sure that all areas of the heating element are covered, filling any empty spaces. Advantages
  4. Ceramic briquettes, tiles and lava rocks all serve the same purpose. The advantage comes from their ability to reduce flare-ups and hot spots. They can also be used several times, minimizing set-up and making cleaning easier. Traditional charcoal briquettes are cheap and easy to find. They also provide the smoky flavor associated with traditional charcoal barbecuing. Disadvantages
  5. Ceramic briquettes, tiles, and lava rocks are not as easy to find as traditional charcoal briquettes and are more expensive. Traditional charcoal briquettes do not repel run-off from food, but rather retain it, causing hot spots and flare ups. Charcoal briquettes also need to be replaced after each use and are harder to clean up. Warnings
  6. Any additional product placed inside a lp/gas grill should not come in contact with the heating element. Doing so can cause increased stress to the grill, as well as clog vital gas ports. Always maintain a clean grill. A buildup of old briquettes can cause inadequate performance.
