That could be either the TV, the cable box, the Roku, or the dvd player, depending on what you are watching

Testimonial: "So what you are saying it can not be fixed because it is being broadcasted that way?"

  • SSN-MM3 Jun 20, 2019

there is also that possibility. I was referring to each device either having CC turned on/off. You should check the settings of each device. Also, some broadcasts do not send out the CC sub-text, kind of like a non-HD broadcast. It is up to the discretion of the broadcaster. Look for the [CC] that usually indicates CC is broadcast with that program.

Why won't my new TV/DVD combo turn on CC but subtitles work fine.

There could be a few reasons why your TV/DVD combo is not displaying closed captions (CC) but subtitles are working fine. Some possible causes include:
  • The CC feature is not enabled on the TV or DVD player. Check the settings on both the TV and the DVD player to make sure the CC feature is turned on.
  • The CC feature may only be available on certain channels or with certain types of programming. Check to see if the CC feature is available on the channel or program you are trying to watch.
  • The CC feature may not be compatible with the type of DVD you are trying to play. Some DVDs may not include CC information or may have different CC options.
  • The TV/DVD combo may be malfunctioning. If none of the above solutions work, it may be a hardware issue and you may need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
It's important to note that CC and subtitles are different things. CC is closed captions which is a text version of the audio that appears on screen while subtitles are a text version of spoken dialog in the same language as the audio. Make sure you are looking for the correct feature.

How do you remove braille from tv

If you are talking about the words spoken on the TV program being displayed on the TV screen as text, then this feature is called CLOSED CAPTIONING.

Most remote controls have a button called CC, or CAPTION, or INFO, or DISPLAY which will allow you to disable the CLOSED CAPTIONING feature.

Otherwise you may have to select the MAIN MENU option for your set and go into the AUDIO OPTONS or FEATURES menu. If you can find the Closed Caption settings in there, then just disable them there by setting them to OFF.

If you can provide the exact brand and model number of your TV, then we can certainly provide you with more specific instructions on how to disable that feature on your particular set.

If you have a cable or satellite set top box, then also make sure that the Closed Captioning is not being generated by that device instead of by your TV. Make sure the Closed Captioning is disabled on that set top device as well if applicable.

I hope that was helpful.

Good luck and take care.

Joe.

My closed caption on my new dynex 26L 150A11 will not turn on. I have followed all instructions in the book. I need the cc. any one have an answer? thanks cosycat

Hi,

There are several possibilities here so you will need to work with me to resolve this problem. In order for Closed Captioning (CC) to work, you need to make sure the CC settings are correct on the TV, and then make sure they CC is switched on. In addition, if you are using a cable or satellite receiver box, CC also needs to be switched on for these "boxes".

It's easiest to start with the TV. Please make sure you have done the following:

1. Check the Closed Caption settings are as follows from the TV on-screen menu as follows:

a) Press the "MENU" button on the DYNEX remote
b) Press the RIGHT arrow twice to highlight the "SETUP" menu
c) Press the DOWN arrow once to open the "SETUP" menu
d) Press the DOWN arrow twice to highlight "CLOSED CAPTION"
e) Press the RIGHT arrow or the "ENTER" button once to open the CLOSED CAPTION MENU
f) Make sure the Closed Caption option "CC MODE" is set to "ON". This can be changed using the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight "CC MODE" and using the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to switch between off and on.

The "Basic Selection" and "Advanced Selection" settings are for analogue and digital closed-captions respectively. In addition, the "Options" sub-menu can be used to change the size and style of the digital closed captions (Advanced Selection). All three of these options should eventually be set according to your personal preferences, but for the purposes of making sure it is working, I suggest you set them as follows:

Basic Selection = CC1
Advanced Selection = Service 1

These options are the basic settings which will display only the spoken dialogue of the TV program.

g) Press "EXIT" on the remote to close the menu and return to viewing mode.

2. Press the "CCD" button on your Dynex remote control. This can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the remote. Each press of the "CCD" button will cycle the closed captions between ON and OFF. (CCD means Closed Caption Display)

3. Check the Closed Captions are displayed and then adjust the Basic and Advanced Selection options until the type and appearance of the closed captions are how you like them.

If you have done the above and still cannot get it to work, please let me know whether you are using a cable or satellite receiver and the brand/model number. I will then be able to assist you further.

Regards,
BElectric

You're closed captioning is all jumbled up on Seattle's KIRO TV from my DISH network. The cc works fine on all other channels. Dish says it's a network problem. Any response?

The CC is provided to DISH (and all cable/satellite companies) by the network that creates the programming. Usually, live TV (like news, sports, etc) is the most jumbled because of the time it takes someone to transpose what is being spoken as it is being spoken. If this is a network that is available OTA (via antenna), verify that the issue is not happening when you are receiving the signal from somewhere other than DISH (if you cannot receive an OTA signal, try at a buddy's house that uses another cable provider). If the problem occurs via OTA or other providers, contact KIRO to have them improve their CC service. If it only happens when viewed with DISH, contact DISH, who will then resolve the issue with KIRO (usually a lag time in signal transmission from the provider).

Printed dialogue on TV screen

THat is Closed Captioning, and you can **** it off by pressing the menu button for your tv, and finding the option CLOSED CAOPTION (OR CCD) (or CC) and set it to off.

There may also be a CC or CCD button on your remote that if you hit it a few times it may turn this off also.

It will be either in the menu, or a button on the remote.
