Actually they are two different measurements and they are not equal. However if you need to come to an outside measurement of a square surface that is equal to a circumference, take the width and the length and add them together, multiply that by 2 and you have the outside distance around the square footage.
linear feet is a length measurement as to how long it is --example : a piece of timber 20 feet long is 20 linear feet
the measurements you have provided will give a cubic feet measurements which is a volume measurement. so convert all the dimensions to feet , multiply all together and that will be your volume
if you are talking about a home it is huge. But sq. footage is calculated by multiplying width by depth{ or height}. a room 100' x 39' would be 3900 sq./ft. a 10'x10' is 100 sq./ft.
