The switch button is already loose contact or crack solder joint,thats why its hard to turn on / off .Its needs to reworks the solder joint or resolder it, so it will works normally or replace the switch with a new one.Find a TV repairman to do the works or bring it to a shop,find a good one ,its cost you maybe $50 to $75..

I fixed this by replacing the off/on switch which seems to bypass the stand by transformer which i think was causing the problem hoppe this helps someone

It sounds like a bad capacitor on the audio board or the speaker themselves are the problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

philips has a problem with bad caps(swollen)in power supply-try shopjimmys.com enter model number-scroll down til you find power supply-order it simple to put in.if they do not have it write down part number then google it to find one--you also can change the bad caps yuorself if you are handy with a soldering iron
