Go to start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>services.

Scroll down the list to "print spooler." Right click on this and choose the "restart" option.

This should fix the problem and print any stuck print jobs.

I just replace my XP machine with a Windows 7 OS x64 machine the printer doesn't print. When I drill down I find the print in 'Offline' mode how do I get to go 'Online'? Printer is a Brother MFC-3100C

Quickest method is to delete the printer from devices and printers and wait about a minute and then select add printer, select local or network option, follow prompts on screen, reboot PC.

If printer has web services on board, then the drivers should auto download to PC from printer. It may take a few minutes.
Through the web services link under properties you can go in to the user interface and turn off auto-off or auto-off line options, or change the times it takes to go off.

Canon LBP-810 Printer drivers for windows 7 64 bit os

I checked the cannon website and it appears that they do not support a 64 bit driver for windows 7 for that model.

LBP 810 Canon Europe

If you have windows 7 professional you could use the XP virtual machine to install the XP drivers on then share it form the XP VM. It's a bit of a fudge but it should work.

I run win7Pro & AG CreataCard Platinum 8 will not install..is my favorite card making program for family & friends, any help appreciated.

CreataCard Platinum 8 was written for XP and older versions of Windows. Changes in the OS make it difficult/impossible to install.

Do you have the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of Win7Pro? Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the title reads Windows 7 Professional x64, it's the 64-bit version. (If it doesn't end with the x64, you have the 32-bit version.)

In any case, the best option is to try running an older version of Windows on another machine, a dual boot system or a virtual computer. With the Pro version of Win7, you can run a virtual XP for free (if your hardware can support it). Download and install Virtual PC and the XP mode package from Microsoft. (You'll need to set aside some memory for the virtual PC to run.) Then install CreataCard when running XP mode as if this is your only computer.

The only real problem is that you will not be able to have hardware installed on the virtual XP and the Windows 7 real machine at the same time. (So you can't share a printer.) Also, to share files between the two "systems", you will need to save them to external media (flash drive or optical disc, for example). Your motherboard and CPU need to support Virtualization. You have to turn this on in your BIOS on some systems. (Press Esc, F1, F2 or F10 repeatedly depending on your system right after turning on the system. If you miss the timing, shut down the computer and then retry.)

Other virtualization programs are Parallels and VMWare. However, with those programs and the other possible options for running CreataCard, you need a licensed version of the older version of Windows.

If you have the 32-bit version of Windows, you can try the Compatibility Mode. (Right click on the installer and choose Properties. Then click on the Compatibility tab and select Run the program as compatible with an older version of Windows. Apply the changes and click OK. Then right click on the installer again and choose Run As Administrator.) You may have to repeat this on the program icon after installing. However, the compatibility mode doesn't always work even if you have the 32-bit OS (and thus don't need the signed driver).

An alternative is to upgrade your software to one that is Win7 compatible. I'm not sure which of these Broderbund design and print products are most similar to CreataCard: http://www.broderbund.com/c-6-design-print.aspx . However, you will probably not be able to open old documents.

I hope this helps.

(XP mode is available with Win7Pro and Ultimate. At my house, we have two computers with Win7Pro with one running XP mode. At least once, the virtualization was turned off during a BIOS update and XP mode failed until the setting was corrected.)

Windows 7 will not recognize my v6upl scanner which worked in Windows XP. Problem seems to be that Device Manager sees it as an Unknown Device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Unfortunately, Microtek doesn't support the V6UPL for any Windows OS beyond XP. The drivers are available here: http://support.microtek.com/downloads/bycategory.phtml?slct_tbl=1&slct_mdl=2 .

What version of Windows 7 are you running? Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the version name ends with x64, you have the 64-bit version; otherwise you have the 32-bit version.

If you have the 32-bit version, try using the driver from the above site with the compatibility mode. Right click on the .exe file and choose Properties. Then select the compatibility tab. Set the program to always run in the compatibility mode for XP. Then right click again and choose Run as administrator. (You may need to disconnect the data cable and uninstall the Unknown device before trying to install the XP driver).

This will probably not work for Win7 x64. There are workarounds that you can use. You need to connect the scanner to a computer running an older version of Windows. This can be a physical second computer, a dual boot computer or a computer running a virtual version of the older OS. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, or upgrade to one of those versions, you can have a virtual version of XP for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode (in order) from Microsoft. Then install the XP scanner driver in the XP mode program as if that is the only computer running. The only issue is that you can't share files or your printer between the virtual and real computer at the same time. You will be prompted to uninstall the printer if you try to install it on both machines. You can put files on external media to share them. Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare. However, you need a licensed version of the older Windows OS to use any of the other alternatives.

I hope this helps.

Does the Design Studio for Plastic Canvas work with Windows 7? I bought the item on Amazon, and the description stated Windows 95/98 and later, but the box only states Windows 95/98. The seller could not...

First what version of Windows 7 are you running? Click on Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System and read the title of your OS. If it ends with x64, you have the 64-bit OS. Otherwise, you have the 32-bit version. Next which version of Design Studio do you have? If you have version 2.0, that is compatible with XP and Vista (not x64).

If you use a 32-bit version of Windows 7, you may be able to get it to work with the compatibility mode. Right click on the installer on the CD and choose Properties. In the Compatibility tab, set the "Run this program in the Compatibility Mode" and choose an older version of Windows (try XP first). Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

However, it will not work with the 64-bit version due to unsigned drivers and other issues.

There are workarounds if the program doesn't work in the compatibility mode. You need an older version of Windows running. This could be on a physical second computer, a dual boot system or a virtual computer. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of them, you can use a virtual version of XP for free. Download and install Virtual PC and the XP mode from Microsoft in order. Then install your Design Studio in the XP "machine" as if it was your only computer. The only restriction is that you can not share your printer or files under XP mode and Win 7 at the same time. You will need to uninstall the printer and reinstall it under the other OS or transfer the files to external media to share them. Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare. For these virtual computer, the dual boot, or the physical second computer option, you will need a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

The documentation and an update are available here: http://www.plasticcanvassoftware.com/ . The update is in the Customer Service section.

I hope this helps.

I have a ce-100 futura sewing machine that will not work with windows 7 what do i need to do to fix this problem

The Futura software and the machine drivers exist for Windows 98, NT, 2000, ME, or XP. If you have Win7 32-bit, you may be able to run in the compatibility mode. Load the CD into the optical drive, then right click on the .exe file on the CD. Then choose Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in the compatibility mode. Click Apply and OK. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. This isn't guaranteed to work since the changes in the OS are significant.

To check if you have Win7 32-bit or the 64-bit version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. The title will say Windows 7 (Version) for a 32-bit OS. It will read Windows 7 (Version) x64 for the 64-bit version of the OS.

If you have the 64-bit OS or the compatibility mode doesn't work, you need a computer running an older version of Windows. This can be a second computer, a dual-boot computer (where you select your OS at startup) or a virtual computer (that runs inside the real computer). If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of those versions, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

(The last person I dealt with with the issue of an embroidery machine not talking to Windows 7 kept their old Windows XP computer just to work with the sewing machine. Fortunately the old computer was still working enough to use for the purpose.)
