This kind of repair requires a specialist that really knows his clocks, if it's a mechanical clock. If it's not mechanical, then you either live with it, or replace the mechanism.
Since it is a grandfather clock it need more maintenance ,and it is pendulum model.. more dust can trap inside the hinging point of gear,,use WD40 clean the hinging ..

chimes. Ask them for a manual.

Hello I've Seth Thomas Grandfather 46978 clocks' user manual with me. But I don't know how to send it to you. It is in PDF format. The newly hoilsted Fixya site has no facilty to send the manuals to users I thinks. I can't see it nowhere in this iste. OK.
