SOURCE: for sony rcd-w500c/w100 won't go to record mode.

Make sure you're using CD-R AUDIO or MUSIC blank discs. It won't record onto data discs.

Din Unlock means you have a bad DIgital INput. Look to the source or the cable carrying the signal.

I believe I changed bass, treble, etc., levels on my RCD-W500C cd recorder. I lost my manual and am not sure how to reset to default levels. How do I do this?

CD recorders have no tone controls. Volume only. The whole point of digital recording is accurate unaltered recording.

You can finalize a CD-R anytime you want to but it won't PLAY in a CD player until you do. It will play in another CD recorder, though.

Which cd-r audio do I buy.

when you buy cdr's to use with the recorder be sure to go and buy "cdr audio". You may have problems with certain brands. It really is hit or miss but Sony discs should be fine with this player but try to get a small number of cheaper disks and try to see what works well.

There is a small chance that one brand may sound better(or some people say) but I have never had one problem like this from one to another.
