Honda GCV160 Engine Won't Start

Karcher Pressure Washer with Honda GCV160 engine will not start. Looks like I might not have gotten all of the fuel out at the end of last year and I'm thinking it could be something in the fuel system. Any ideas where to start in diagnosing and fixing?

Hello
You should siphon out all the old gas you can. Replace with new gas. Check that the spark plug is good and the air filter is clean. Spray some carb cleaner in the carburetor.. Also, you should check the oil level and change the oil if it is black. If it tries to start after you spray the carb cleaner in but won't keep going then you know the carburetor needs a good cleaning

Why is my Honda GCV160 pressure washer not getting fuel?

There is obviously a blockage somewhere along the way.
The most common problem with these microcarbs is that fuel has been left for too long and has blocked the fuel jet (Or in the line before it) . Old fuel goes sludgy and then like varnish so sometimes the ONLY cure is another carb BUT nothing to lose by trying various solvents (Carbontetrachloride if you can find some)

Another 'Try' would be brake cleaner with a straw attachment (Think WD40 can) and force that into every orifice you can find.
Even WD40 may help dissolve it.
If none of those work strip everything off the carb and immerse in boiling water. If no joy - NEW CARB.

Pressure washer start fine and idles appropriately trigger is depressed washer runs for about five minutes then just shuts off. Engine restarts fine but when trigger is depressed engine shuts off

looks like the fuel cap may not be venting try it with the cap loose allowing air into the tank sounds like lack of fuel entering into the carburetor.

Where to install thermal relief valve

It should be the last threaded hole right before the water enters the pump itself, on the low pressure ( inlet) side, most pumps have 2 different size holes 90 degrees from each other, commonly 1/4 and 1/8 in.

I have a wood splitter that has a honda GCV160 5HP engine, when I choke it to start, it does find, but when I push the choke in, the engine will not run smoothly, it acts like it's not gettingg en

Sounds like debris in the carburettor. The carbs on these are relatively simple things which come apart easily. Check for debris or water in the float-bowl, and ensure both your idle and main jets are clear and you can see daylight through them.

Husky 2600 pressure washer with honda gcv160 engine. engine won't run with choke off.

I bought mine at Home Depot, the pump failed after about 8 hours of use then Home Depot agreed to replace it now it failed again after aabout 10 hours of use. This is a piece of crap and Home Depot should be ashamed for selling this junk. I am sure they are in with Husky and making big dollars on a crappy product. My machine is like brand new just will not work. Now the carb has to be replaced only after less than 20 hours.

did you leave fuel in it from last year, if so remove all fuel from tank, drain carb. (remove float bowl if it doesn't have a drain bolt) put in fresh fuel, check your oil level and you should be good to go. if not, please take it to a qualified tech. for carb. cleaning.
