Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.

then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Alternatively, you can enter http://192.168.2.1 into your browser and it will take you to a log-in box. The default password is left blank. Then just go through the set up.
1. you either know your password or have it written down. 2. You will have to load the installation CD and re-install the routers files to the computer to reset the user name and the password.\ 3. You will have to go to the manufacturer to load any updates for firmware for your particular router unit after re-installation. if your ISP is cable, then you need to do change the connection type to dynamic, and you need to do a mac clone, then turn off both modem and router...and turn on both, the status will change to connected....
in this case you ll never need the cd to be installed on your computer....

You do not need the CD that came with the router to configure it. To do it manually open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1into the address field. That should take you to the routers log onwindow and by default the user is left blank (some routers the user isadmin) and the password is admin. If you changed the password to therouter when you set it up before use that password. That will take youinto the router's set up so you can set up your router. Hope I Helped!

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work
