Unfortunately, you can't transfer from the old to the new. There is no data transfer port (usb) and you will have to manually enter your phone numbers into the new phone.

jimmackey

were you ever able to register the additional handset? I have the same problem with 4 handsets, one broke and I bought 2 new vt2420 handsets. The unit wont register handset #3 (the one that broke). Would love to know if you were able to resolve the issue?

On most models you can find an option in the menu for De-register? In that case you would select that option and select to deregister the handset.

DCT5 and DCT6 models: Press menu on the handset. Go to System Reset and Press select. Go to Deregister HS and press select. Arrow up to yes and press select. Then go back into the menu. Go to system reset and press select. Arrow down to Replacing the base and press select. Arrow up to yes and press select.

DCT7 models: Press and hold "end" and "#" until the system reset menu appears on the display. Then follow the instructions from above for the DCT5 and DCT6 deregister procedures once your into the menu.

SOURCE: How to remove Uniden handset from base

The brillian people at Uniden don't feel it necessary to provide this type information in their manuals. You have to trial and error to find it, but what can you do. All you have to do to reset the base unit itself is to unplug the power, then while holding down the delete key, plug it back in. Hold the delete button down until you hear a beep, which indicates it has reset. Now you can readd handsets and they will start at 1.

SOURCE: ADDING HANDSET SAYS OUT OF RANGE

A search of Uniden support only said to call 1-800-297-1023 with handset registration issues. The rep picked up quickly and walked me through the reset procedure. Here it is step-by-step:

1. Remove battery
2. Hold down the * and # buttons and reinsert battery. You should hear a long beep. If not retry. (This is a bit awkward but hold the handset upside down and it's workable)
3. Screen will be blank. Immediately press the right soft menu button.
4. Screen will report that EEPROM is clearing and then state EEPROM Clear Ok
5. Remove battery (yes again)
6. Reinsert battery (this time there's no need to hold down any buttons)
7. Handset will reboot with Welcome screen and then state that phone must be registered (this is the status a handset should be in from the factory)
8. Place handset on base and it will register as normal

How do you register a old uniden SSE27 handset to a new Uniden SSE37 base

The following is taken directly from the SSE37 owners' manual:

Registering a handset
If you see a "not registered" message on a handset,
you must register it to a base before using it.
1.
On the base, open the menu and select
Register Accy.
2.
On the handset, press and hold #/DND
until the handset display says
Handset Registering (about 2 seconds).
3.
Wait until the handset display says
Registration Complete (about 30 seconds),
then pick up the handset.
If you don't hear a dial tone or the display says
Registration Failed, charge the battery completely,
then try again.

Good luck!

How do i add another handset "uniden 6.0" phone to an existing phone and base unit of the same brand.I need the step-by-step instructions please. thank you!

First make to get a compatible handset.

For the Uniden D1660-2, the compatible handsets are DCX160 and DWX337. Make sure that you have not exceeded the number of handsets that the phone can support. The D1660-2 can support 12 handsets unless you use any DWX337 handsets. Then the limit is 6. (If you have more handsets, you will need to deregister some of them first.) Then allow the handset to charge. If the handset is reading "not registered", then place it into the base unit. You should see "Handset Registering" for about 30 seconds; then it will read Registration Complete. The manual for the Uniden D1660-2 is available here: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D1660-2om.pdf . This is the most common Registration for Uniden phones; there are a few exceptions (depending on the base or the replacement handset). Check the appropriate manual (see below to find the manuals).

For the DECT4096, press Menu on the base and then navigate to Handset Register. When you see Handset Registering on the base display, press and hold # on the handset to be registered until you see Handset Registering. (It takes about 2 seconds.) After the display changes to Handset Registered, check for dial tone.

On a few Uniden phones, there is a Page/Handst Register button on the base. On those you navigate through the Handset menu to Handset Register (Menu > Handset menu > Handset Registration). Then press and hold the Page button until you hear a beep. Then wait for the registration to be completed.

Most Uniden manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Select your type of Uniden phone and scroll through the list to your model or use the search box to directly search for your phone and the manual.

I hope this helps.

HOW DO U CONNECT THE HANDSET TO THE BASE.ALREADY TRIED THE REGISTER BUTTON,DID NOT WORK.IT CAME WITH NO DIRECTIONS,WE BOUGHT AT A FLE MARKET FOR 5 DOLLARS.

Are you sure of the model number? The D1680 should register the handset when you put it on the base for 30 seconds. (You should see Handset Registering followed by Registration Complete.) Then press Talk/Flash to check for dial tone. On this model if the registration fails, charge the battery (or replace the battery and then charge that). Then repeat the registration.
The manual for the Uniden D1680 is available here: http://news.uniden.com/pdf/D1680om.pdf .

For other Uniden phones, like the DEC1060, you need to navigate through the handset menus to find the Handset Registration command. Then press and hold the Register Handset (Find Handset) key on the base for 3+ secondsThen the base and handset will synch. (Low batteries could interfere with the process.)

For the D3288, you access the base menu for Register Accy and then press and hold # on the handset for 30+ seconds. (You will see Registering followed by Registration Complete.)

Additional Uniden cordless phone manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl .

I hope this helps.

(with a flea market phone, my first suggestion is to try a new battery for the handset. They only have a given number of recharge cycles and you do not know the history. However, sometimes the chargers do fail and a new battery will not work. In that case, the phone should be replaced. It isn't worth the cost of out-of-warranty repairs.)

How do i copy a phone book for the Uniden DECT1560 cordless phone

Kathy,
This should do the trick!

Copying Phonebook Entries to Another Handset:
You can transfer one phonebook entry at a time or all phonebook entries at once.
1) With the phone in standby, press the address book icon.
2) To copy one entry, find the phonebook entry you want to copy, press Menu /Select , and then select Copy.
To copy all entries, press Menu /Select and then select Copy All.
3) Move the cursor to select the handset which you want to transfer the entries to and then press Menu /Select .
If you select Copy All, Are you sure? appears on the display screen. Move the cursor to select Yes, and then
press Menu /Select .
4) The phonebook entries will be transferred to the designated handset. During the copy process, the receiving handset shows Receiving and the ID of the sending handset.
5) When the transfer is completed, Done! appears on the handset.

Notes: • The handsets must be currently connected to the same base.
• If the handset you want to transfer to already has seventy entries in its phonebook, you will hear a beep and Not enough memory in receiving unit appears on the display.
• If the selected handset is out of range or data transfer is cancelled, Unavailable appears in the display, Phonebook listings will not be transferred.

Have Fun!!

Deregister lost or broken phones

Some tricks from a helpful Uniden rep:

holding down end+# keys at the same time on the phone for about 10 secs (you will hear a beep) will deregister the handset. If you have a dead handset and want to deregister it from the base, you have to reset the base. unplug the phoneline and power. hold down the "delete message" key, plug power back in. about 10 secs later, you will hear a long beep (theres a short beep upon powerup as well). At this point all handsets are deregistred and you will have to reregister them with the end+# trick. this way when #1 handset is dead, you can make a working one #1 and get the broken one fixed emotion-1.gif

BTW, this is a woot warranty, not uniden warranty. however the uniden rep gave me the number to the people who refurb (rox0rz!) these. I'll post an update when I finally get ahold of them (and the number if its actually helpful)
