This is common on the 25's. Take it to your local vac shop for repair. The pivot screw vibrates loose and binds the pivot point. This can be fixed. You probably need it serviced anyway as bagless machines need annual cleaning to perform properly.

SOURCE: Hi, Dyson DC25 brush bar very

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the cleaner feels heavy to push, it may simply be due to the machine's powerful suction - the soleplate is engineered to form a close seal with the floor surface for high pick-up. The tracklines on the carpet are nothing to worry about - they're a normal feature of operation of the revolving brushbar.

It's also normal for the exhaust air from the motor to become warm after a period of use. I note you've stated that the filters are clean, but you might want to take a look at the video embedded below to check you've washed them correctly. Under normal use, they should be rinsed under cold water at least once every 3 months, and allowed to air-dry. No detergents should be used.

If you have any further concerns about your DC25, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can provide the assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is open from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

    Kind regards,

SOURCE: My brush bar wont engage

      Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our guide:

      http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1156&product=DC25-ALLFLOORS

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver brush control switch located next to the red on/off switch.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.

My dc25 brush will not spin when i clean the floor

Hi Raymond, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like many Dyson vacuums, DC25's cleaner head includes a sensor which shuts of the brush bar if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar and endcap, you should be able to reset the machine as shown in our video guide below:

The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. Once it's reassembled, plug it in, turn it on, recline it and press the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice.

If you'd like some further help after giving this a try, you're welcome to call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if your machine is within the Dyson guarantee period.

The Dyson DC25 grips new carpet. How can I adjust the brush height

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC25 is engineered to adjust automatically to different carpet piles, without stopping to adjust any fiddly levers or dials. You can also turn the rotating brush bar off to clean hard floors and delicate rugs - just press the silver brush control switch next to the red on/off switch.

If you're having difficulty using your DC25 on a particular type of new carpeting, we'd recommend checking directly with the carpet manufacturer for their advice. They should be able to recommend the best way of caring for this flooring.

          Can't activate front brush

Hi Sandy, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 has a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine. It's protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If your brush bar won't rotate it's likely it just need to be reset. Please follow the steps shown in the video I've attached.

Tip: Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from the brush bar, recline the machine into the vacuuming position. Turn it on with the red on/off switch, then press the silver brush control switch twice.

Please note: The brush bar will never rotate when the machine's standing upright, so make sure you recline it down into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.
