My eclipse mp3 player makes a strange scratching sound randomly when I'm playing music. Sounds like a vinyl record player scratching sound. It will stop and randomly start again. I've owned two Eclipse Mp3 players and they both do this.
SOURCE: My MP3 player displays "License Expired" on the screen.
If you let your subscription to Rhapsody expire, you will get this message. If you didn't let your subscriptino expire then you will need to synch the files from Rhapsody itself back onto the player - the licenses have to be renewed once a year for some songs - once a month for others. If your subscriptino ever expires, you can no longer use the songs.

SOURCE: Eclipse MP3 Player 180SL 4GB This mp3 player
My Eclipse 180 SL (4GB) MP3 player stopped playing in the middle of a sound file voice recording of a novel I have been "reading." Also, neither of my computers will recognize it any more.
SOURCE: I tried to sync music
I called Mach Speed technical support at (580) 272-0035 and they told me that model CLD2PL cannot handle music being in folders. So I removed the folders from the mp3 player and copied over the music again (as single files) and now it works. Hope this helps.

This is a case where this should go back to the store, one option to try is all MP3 players have a reset switch somewhere on the chassis, a safety pin is bigger enough to slip in. When found press and hold for 60 seconds, If this fails take it back because there is nothing more that can be done.
