How do you know it runs at full speed? It could be overcharged or simply have a high load.

SOURCE: samsung smh7150 shuts down after a few minutes.

If the mag overheats because its not being cooled it will shut down until its cool.

If the fan is turning slow you can try oiling it but it likely needs replacing.

Another thing that causes this is that the exaust port is blocked because its upagainst the wall and the hot air can not escape.

My unit blows out cool air for maybe 3mins. Then warm air

Normal ACs (non inverter) work in the following way
  • The AC compressor runs continuously till set temperature is reached in the room
  • The compressor then switches off, but the blower fan in the wall mounter unit keeps running. Durint this time the AC fan blows air out at Room temperature (which feels warmer)
  • When temperature of room rises then compressor starts running again. During theis period the air coming out from the inner uny is cooled by the condenser coils
  • And the process is repeated.... as long as you keep AC running
Ac works this way throught the operation period.
Now if you feel that your AC keeps switching off and on very frequently check the following
  • Your AC may be over powered for room *for example a 1.5 ton AC installed in a scenario where 1 ton is enough)
  • If there is voltage fluctuation in your area then the compressor may keep shutting don on large voltage swings
    • Solution: Get a Stabilizer
  • You have set the temperature setting too high. Max temp suggested for ACs is 25 degree Celsius, any higher will mean the compressor shuts down often. Remember every compressor shutdown and startup draws a high starting current
    • Set AC temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius
  • The thermostat/ Temperature sensor is faulty
    • Get unit inspected by Authorized technician
  • There is dust buildup on the outer unit / compressor unit. The dust buildup may cause overheating by preventing efficient heat exchange, This may lead to overheating of compressor and it shuts down to, prevent damage to itself
    • Get unit serviced by Authorized technician
  • The fan motor of the outer unit is not working properly
    • Get unit inspected by Authorized technician
Remember to get the AC serviced at least thrice a year to ensure smooth operation

My split-type inverter A/C would stop being as cold as when it was initially turned on after a certain amount of time. Why is that?

call the HVAC man, nobody on earth can answer this in a text box. the man does tests to find Truth, not guessing.
not only that but this is USA forum. we don't have your AC here at all.
it could be normal or is set that way for , low carbon emission reasons, why in the world ask here.
AC have many modes that run in, to AVOID PROBLEMS AND TO LOWER emissions.
if you read the manual on the AC and controller and are lost. why would you not call the AC man and get this resolved. (and learn to find one that is not a crook, sure)

the whole purpose of the variable speed compressor is to be lower carbon emissions. (greener)
that is what it does, if it messes up you get to pay the man.
Plus it has more things that can break, so that is what you bought.

What is the difference between inverter AC?

The biggest difference between inverter and non-inverter AC is the fact that the motor of the inverter compressor has a variable speed. The speed of the non-invertor compressor is fixed. This means that it operates either at full or minimum speed. A censor in the invertor adjusts the power according to the temperature in the room, lowering the electrical consumption and saving energy.

Due to the sophisticated operational method of the invertor, its compressor does not work at its full capacity all the time. When the speed is lower, the needed energy is lower too and you pay less money for electricity.
As the compressor motor of the inverter air conditioner does not turn on and off all the time, but keeps working at low power, the operation is more quite.
The technology of the inverters not only makes cooling and heating more efficient, but it also makes the AC's life longer.
Last but not least, the inverter AC is able to cool or heat your room faster than the non-inverter. This is due to the fact that in the beginning of the process, the inverter uses more power than the non-inverter and diminish the power when it gets close to the desired temperature.
