How do you remove the head on a yard machine trimmer

SOURCE: yard machine ym26ss straight shaft trimmer. New gas,

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

I have a Yard Machines 28cc 15" Y28 trimmer. Every thing was fine until it stopped advancing string. So I tapped it on the ground and I got no advancement. Removed the reel and the string pulled off...

Clean everything very well, make sure spring is not hung in compressed position, you should be able to push button or head down and then pull on string and it should come out. Push again and it should pull out again, if not you will have to find reason why. The last time you changed string are you sure you wound it correctly?

Victor you need to invest in some copper grease. This will stop it getting to hot and jamming when it expands with the heat.

How to feed trimmer line on y25 yard trimmer gas

Depending on what type of string head you have. If it's a "tap and go" style head, just rev it up full throttle and tap it on the ground. It should feed the string out and the blade on the shield will cut off the string to the correct length.

The head on the trimmer is stripped out and I couldn't get it off

measure the outside of the tube and any compatible head will clamp on the tube
all internal drive shaft and cables use a 1/4 square drive at the end which slips into the bevel drive gear in the head
normally straight shaft tubes are bigger in diameter than bent shafts
junk yards or dumps are a good place to get heads complete
