SOURCE: my bunn coffee maker leaks

You need to replace the washer kit inside the top of the maker. Remove the 3 screws that fasten the top and lift it off. You will see the rocker leaver that allows the water to flow into the tank. At the point where the rocker stops the water there is a series of washers that degrade from the heat over time and allows the leak. The washers are very easy to replace. The problem is finding the washer kit. I found it at: www.buyitnow64.com for $3.95 plus shipping (FedEx is only $9.98). I bought 2 (one for backup) kits. The original washers lasted almost 6 years. I had repaired this problem before with a washer from my shop but it broke down rather quickly from the direct heat from the tank. This washer kit is a Bunn washer kit that is supposed to fit all Bunn machines both residential and commercial.
Hope this helps. It took me 2 hours on line to find the washers!

SOURCE: Bunn coffee maker leaks water

There are 3 seals in your unit that could cause your problem. there is a silicon seal right under the pour-in tray, and two on the top of the tank. one of those is for the thermostat, the other is for the sprayhead tube. any of these could leak, causing water to come out the bottom of the brewer. One other thing that can cause this is a scale buildup between the pour-in tray and the tank.

I used Foxhollowrun's solution and went to my local hardware store (Menard's). You can purchase 3/4" Hole Grommets typically found in the electrical department. The brand I purchased was Gardner Bender Model GHG-1575 3/4" Hole Grommets. Here is all that you need to do (very quick and easy):

1) Break away the brittle pieces from the original hole in the resevoir.

2) Remove the old rubber / plastic washers - I found I didn't need them. However, hang onto your metal washer that the drain screw goes through.

3) Slip the 3/4" grommet around the hole.

4) Place the original metal washer on top of the grommet.

5) Screw the drain screw back into the heater which will seal the grommet via pressure. Be sure not to over tighten it - I just snugged mine up.

6) Put everything back together, rinse several pots of water through it, check for leaks, and you should be good to go.

As Foxhollowrun indicated, you may need to tighten the drain screw a bit if you do have a leak. I lucked out - it worked the first time. I believe it cost me about $2 to fix. Also, I did not need any caulk. If you do use caulk, I was told you need to use food-grade caulk.

One last note - as Foxhollowrun indicated, the grommets are quick thick which is why I removed all of the old washers. The original metal washer is just thin enough to allow the drain screw to be reinstalled.

Thanks to Foxhollowrun for a great remedy!

My coffe maker leaks water all over the counter and has for a very long time, why? It's only about 3 yrs. old or less, I think and I am tired of it, I have to clean it up everyday and then add more water...

If you haven't used a replacement carafe, then it is probably a clog in the drip orifice, at the bottom of the basket. Note: don't put hot water in your coffee maker as it will perk faster and cause an overflow. Only use cold water. If you have replaced the carafe then it is probably the wrong size.

Our coffee maker is leaking. bunn b10. i see they make a kit with silicon washers but how do i get to them to replace?

Hello, goto www.bunn.com for replacement parts. The most likely reason for the leak is the gasket between the pour tray and the tank. If you cant get parts from bunn there is a company call holiday house in cali that will sell you the parts you need. Mike
