SOURCE: How to connect dvd player to AV reciever

S-Video is a media type that only carries video. Unfortunately the LG unit was designed only to be a self contained surround sound unit. There are only video outputs to the television on this unit. Because of the unit having surround sound capabilities, LG felt that their wasn't a need for audio output. You would need to buy a new DVD player to allow audio from the DVD to your new Yamaha unit. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Protect mode turns the reciever off at fairly modest volumes

I Had the same problem.

It occurs when you have a speaker wire touching something that it shouldnt and and you are grounding out the system. The system is going in to protect mode to keep itself from being damaged

In my case I found that I had a couple of frayed wires from one of my back speaker terminals touching the wire on the other terminal. This was all it took. I re-inserted the speaker wires on that one particular speaker and made sure they were not touching and problem solved.

I have yamaha amplifier model RX-V473 no power standby. When I push on the power bitton the power led is blinking rappedly and the off.can you help me

Try pressing and holding the "tone control" and "info" buttons, then press power. This will clear the protection lock that the unit is most likely in. If it shuts back off after this, then you have a problem that will need to get looked at by a pro.

Yamaha RX-V657

This will almost certainly be a problem with the power supply, a faulty part. Unless you have experience of repairs to power supplies, due to the high voltages, I suggest you take it to your local authorised Yamaha Repair Centre.

My yamaha rx-v473 wont turn on

disconnect all wires from behind unit, speakers, input, and then try to power it up ,
if problem persist then try to tighten screws on back panel of the unit,
may sound silly but if amp board does not have good ground connection it can do that , go in protect mode .

Yamaha rx v473 cuts off

disconnect all speakers, turn it on. If it stays on, connect one pair of speakers at a time and when it shuts off, that speaker is the problem. There may be a short in the wire or the speaker may be bad. If you get that far, try connecting the bad speaker with another speakers wires.

Enters standby after being on for only a few seconds.

Sounds like either the volume is turned up too loud, or you have a short. Have you tried disconnecting all the speaker leads from the rear, and then powering it on? Usually if it turns on for a short time and then shuts off, it is throwing itself into protection mode.

How do I turn On/Off my RX 596 reciever with my Yamaha remote ?

Press the Standby/On button on the remote or on the receiver (right below the Yamaha logo) to stop the audio output and display. The RX-596 goes into a low power standby mode when not in use; this allows it to respond to the remote when you press the buttons. If you want the receiver's power use to go to zero, you need to unplug it from the outlet. (You could also use a switched surge protector and push the switch to off.)

See page 9 (page 11 in the PDF) in the manual for the details on the On/Standby switch. The manual is available here: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000057561.pdf . The page is also available here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/197512/Yamaha-Rx-596.html?page=11#manual .

I hope this helps.
