Can u tell me when this cobra 2000 gtl was made all i have is the serial number 53004414

Manufacturer replied to someone that couldn't date models by serial number, but that they began building the model in 1978.

you may have to add a ceramic capacitor to your power switch. Try using a larger value one .If the feedback is still there then you have to look at the mic . By adding two 0.0001 caps to the Audio and transmit wires it should cure the squeal . If you look online you can find out how to do this .

don't tell me you already burnt them out. Look closely on the resistor and you you see a number, that is the number to use. You may have to order it from Cobra . Just tell them what radio part and they will get it to you.

Where the unit was made is a good indication of how old it is. If it was made in Taiwan it is real old. Philippians is after that and Malaysia is the newest.

Other then that you can contact Cobra directly for them to look up the serial number.

the reset button is used to reset the cpu when doing mods.try replacing with momentary press switch.

Note: The pin numbers are marked on the end of plug.....#1.shield, #2.white, #3.red, #4.black.....that means #1.shield, #2.audio, #3.transmit, #4.recieve..........hope this helps.........
