If any universal will do, most supermarkets stock them these days.

Place the remote in a container filled with dry/ uncooked rice. Seriously. I know it sounds weird but it will most likely fix it by absorbing the moisture. I dropped my I-phone in a glass of tea, fully submerged and my wife got the rice out. I thought she was nuts but 24 hours later it was fully functional. What's it gonna hurt to try? Good luck.

2. Are you using you remote in the same way as your wifes, ie on the cars sun visor, try putting both remotes in the same location and activate the garage door with both remotes several times if yours fails your remote has an intermittent fault.
My remote stopped working and the light still came on as well. Replaced the battery and it's working again. Try the battery. Tip: when I took the shell apart, I had to take the circuit board completely out of both halves of the shell to get to the battery.
I went to purchase a new remote on line and they had a tip that work! Don't ask me how. Take the batteries out. push all the buttons one at a time at least once, replace the batteries CORRECTLY and try the remote Mine worked!
If the oroginal remote has good batteries but neither it nor a properly programmed universal remote will operate the set, then the little "eye" inside the set could have come loose or just stopped working. If the set was banged hard enough or dropped, a small crack could have developed in the board and cut the lines to the remote eye. This is easily fixed but should be handled by an exerienced tech.
