If you mean how do you access your router from your phone so you can get at the settings pages, you will need to get on your router from a PC or laptop connected directly to it and enable the remote access option on you router.

N.B. This will make your routers pages accessible via the internet so make sure that your access passwords are strong and that you have security, enabled on you router to prevent anyone getting access and changing your settings.

If you cannot access your router because you have forgotten the password you will need to locate the reset hole and use a pin to reset your router back to the factory defaults, if you can advise what the make and model of your router is, I can give you more advice on doing this

IPhone won't connect to wifi

Under Settings- General - Network, I turned off "Enable 3G", waited a few seconds and wifi came on. I turned on the "Enable 3G" and it still kept my wifi connection.

Go to router's security which is set to WPA2, and re-set it to WPA2, changed the password, removed the network from my iphone and then reselected it with the new password.

Try rebooting your router, or re- setting the security of the router. Also, see if there is a firmware upgrade available for the router.

Download the latest firmware for your router, you can go to the routers manufacture website or there is usually a link within the routers settings. (if you have the routers software installed on your computer, you can access the settings and software update link)

If all else fails, you can reset the router, this different than simply restarting it. You will need a pin or paperclip to press the reset button usually found on the back or sometimes on the bottom of router.
PLEASE NOTE: Resetting the router will delete all current settings including securtiy and reset them to their factory default settings.

But this will isloate any issues that may be associated with your current settings including security. You can reconfigure your router with the settings you perfer after determining that the issue is with the router or not.

How to enable wireless multimedia

Got this from Apple website:

his applies only to third-party routers. Apple AirPort products do not have a setting to enable or disable WMM.

WMM must be enabled for devices to connect. Disabling WMM on your wireless router can prevent the following Apple products from connecting to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network:

  • iPad
  • iPhone
  • iPod touch
  • Apple TV

If you are unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network on any of these devices, check to ensure that WMM is enabled and configured correctly on your wireless router. If you require additional assistance, please contact your router manufacturer.

I accidentally disabled my wylan. how can i get it back or enable it?

You need to hardwire the computer with any of the LAN port of the router. Then you need to log into the user interface of the router. Then you need to click on the Wireless tab and over there you may turn on the wlan of the router. Accessing the Router'sWeb-Based Setup Page
If you need any help then you may chat with some technician available at this website.

When accessing certain websites I cannot get in. I think it is related to how the router is setup. These same websites i can access without the router hooked up

You most likely have security/firewall settings enabled on your router. That would prevent any website that does not meet the security criteria setup on the router. Unfortunately this is not something that is easily fixed unless you are familiar with IT and internet security. If you don't remember setting the router up with those settings you can just try to reset it. On the back of the router there will be a small hole that is labeled "Reset". Use a pen or a paperclip and hold that button in for 10 seconds while the router is On. You will see the lights change for a minute then go back to normal. This may fix your problem.

I turned my wifi off and do kit know how to turn it back on

If the wifi in the router itself is turned off you need to logon to it via the interface (website number ie http://191.168.XXX.XXX Once logged in look for the section where the wifi is and you'll find where you can turn it on again.

If it's not the router but your machine--- laptops often have a switch on the side that can sometimes get accidentally turned off. And under NETWORK CONNECTIONS you can ENABLE or disabled the wifi network by right clicking and selecting ENABLE.

Wirerless not conecting, will not renue ip address. works fine w/ ethernet cable

1. find out if it's just your computer not being able to access your router, best way is to try to get a friend to see or access your router, if you

assuming others computer can't connect to your wireless router either to 'a' if it's only your computer to 'b'

2a. , is the router's name showing up? is the wireless function enabled? you may need to check that your wireless function is enabled and that you ssid (router's name) is being broadcast: go into your router's configuration website and check if it's wireless is enabled and make sure your ssid is being broadcast, it's probably a good idea to reset this changes, so if they're enabled, disable them, save, and then go back in and renabled then try to connect.

3a. find out what's firmware you got on your router and update the firmware if required. you may need to reconfigure any security, please read the instructions on how to update the firmware and try to make sure it gets completed without electrical problems. otherwise it's possible that you may ruin your router. also find out what revision your model is as there are two router's with your model number. all the info is here

- 0 -

2b. since it's your computer the only one, make sure your tcp/ip configuration is enable to receive automatic ip configuration and that dchp is enable in your router.

3b. find out if there's an update for your wireless network card (find out the model and revision number and check the manufacturer's website) and also make sure that your network card is properly installed (check on device manager and make sure there's no ? or ! yellow signs and that your device is working properly.

hope that helps!

good luck!

I cannot remember what my passphrase is. My IP address is 71.115.220.248 My SSID is Richard

go to the netgear website, or check out the manual and find out how to default the router back to factory settings.. Then re-install the router into windows using a new ssid etc. make sure you enable the wpa security protocols and note down all the passcodes etc you use in a safe place. Then re-register all the other PC's etc that you use with the router using the same codes you entered during the setup phase. The manual can be downloaded from netgears website..

Cannot enable wireless function

Enable the wireless fuctionality of the router under the WAN settings using a computer that is wired to the router. You will always get disconnected if you're using a wireless computer to set it up.

If you're already doing it then you may consider upgrading the firmware of the router. the firmware of your router can be downloaded from the manufacturer's support website.

you may consider using a different browser. e.g. mozilla firefox.
