SOURCE: Freezer at 21 degrees , refer at 44 degrees, will

If your model number is the Profile/Artica PSS26 model the most likely reason for this is a burned out defrost heater. Look into back of the freezer and tell me if a layer of frost is building up on the rear wall of the freezer compartment. If yes then unplug and remove the rear panel in the back of the freezer to expose the evaporator coil. If frosted over then you need to defrost with a hair dryer or leave a bucket of hot water in the freezer compartment until the ice melts away. Sometimes the defrost drain is frozen over and then the beginning of the frost becomes heavy quickly and temperatures begin to increase in both sides of your side by side. Lately I seem to be here and ge no response from anyone. I want you to a the least let me know if you need my help to resolve this. Sometimes the main control board causes this but not as likely as the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Freezer is too cold (-14 degrees) and fridge is

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

The temp sensor for the freezer may be reading the warm air in the fridge so is not cutting the compressor off.

Control panel displays 5y ef Model #FGHS2655PF5A

This error is a SY EF (system evaporator fault). The evaporator sensor is not reading enough air flow through the system. The problem could be the evaporator sensor or the evaporator motor.

It can also be linked to a faulty control board. To rule out a problem between the fan and the control board, you can check for 12V DC between the brown and the red wires. You can also check for voltage variations between the yellow and brown wires. (This voltage will depend on if the fan is on high or low speed.) If the voltages are good, replace the motor. If the voltages are faulty, replace the control board.

If you can hear the evaporator running and feel air moving in the freezer, the sensor is more likely to be faulty. (The evaporator is inside the freezer at the back.)

The parts diagrams for the FGHS2655PF5A evaporator is here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/fghs2655pf5a/1428/0165000.html . Parts are available from other vendors as well. https://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts/a4b2d1933346/Model-FGHS2655PF5A-Frigidaire-Refrigerator-Parts is one alternate vendor.

I hope this helps.

Sounds like you just happened to be near the defrost cycle timer as it was ready
to start the cycle and the movement was just enough to start it. You should actually
be turning the cold to a higher number (from 5 to 6 instead) and make sure that
if you have an adjustment knob in the freezer that it is set to the middle and not
to "colder" This knob controls the vent which allows cold air into the fresh food
compartment below. If it is set all the way to "colder" it will almost completely
cut off cold air flow to the lower compartment. Also if you have a thermometer
use it to set the temperature between 36 degrees and 39 degrees in the fresh
food compartment, it should stay in the fridge for 24 hours for an accurate reading.
hope this helps.
