How do I remove spool holder from drive shaft?

Depends on make and model. Most electric strimmers have a removeable cover over the spool. This cover has 2 pressable tabs that releases the cover that then lifts off exposing the spool. Some spolls are clipped into this cover, others sit on the drive shaft from the motor. In both cass the spool should lift off / out. Make a note of the direction that the cutting line is wrapped around the spool so that you can re wrap it correctly with new line. Hope this helps

Cant figure out how to remove fuel filter with out damaging fuel line fittings

IF YOU HAVE THE PLASTIC RETAINER WRAPPED AROUND IT USE SMALL SCREW DRIVER TO PRY THE RETAINER OPEN. THEN YOU HAVE PUSH IN ON PLASTIC RETAINER TO WORK IT AWAY FROM FILTER ENOUGH UNTIL YOU CAN REMOVE FUEL AWAY FROM RETAINER.NOW IF YOU HAVE TWO PLASTIC TAB TYPE QUICK CONNECT FITTING JUST SQUEEZE PLASTIC TABS REMOVE THEN REMOVE FUEL LINE FROM FUEL FILTER.

Flymo electric power trim..dual auto feed line keeps getting wound around the drive shaft...bloody annoying any suggestions.. Ian (M)

Most trimmers have a cutter on the shield by the spool. This cuts excess line off to prevent it from wrapping around the shaft. If the shield has been removed or the cutter is dull it will allow extra line to wrap around the shaft.

The spline for my Poulan TE475 WeedEater comes out during start up and wraps around the shaft. I use .080 round spline. It started recently to do this.

The string head on these units is very poorly designed. There is hardly anything in the head to retain the line. I suggest removing the stock string head and going to Home Depot and getting a replacement Universal type head or one for the Ryobi or Homelite They are basically interchangeable. Check the length available on the shaft end (threaded part) after removing the head.Use a large wrench or pliars to hold the dust cap when you unscrew the head. If you feel the driveshaft turning, don't continue turning head or you will break the flex driveshaft.

How to replace trimmer line ?

1. Remove the cap on the trimmer head, it unscrews.

2. The spool comes off, and on the inside of the spool there is a small hole, this is where you will start your trimmer line. It it will hold it in place while you wrap it. There is also arrows on the spool showing the direction that you need to wrap your spool.

3. Insert the line in the hole and start to wrap the line in the directions of the arrows, try to keep the line in rows, or else the line may bind and you will have to do it all over again.

4. Feed the line through the retainer and reinstall the spool by lining up the retainer and the slot on the outside portion on the trimmer head, the screw back on the trimmer head and you will be ready to trim.
