SOURCE: Ice maker won't stop making ice

OK, there's two possible issues but you have to figure out what is happening. Does the ice maker continue to make ice forever and would fill up the whole freezer section in time OR does the ice maker just "over make" ice that overfills the bin which then falls out? If the ice maker just keeps making ice you need the motor module replaced but if it can be turned off by moving the lever up then you need the "modified lever assy." that is on our service bulletins.

SOURCE: Ice Maker Overflowing

i would recommend changing the water valves as they may be sticking or leaking now you can take the icemaker loose get a small baby bottle short the terminals to cycle water fill catch it with the bottle and see how much water it dumps should be about 4 ounces if the valve leaks will over fill the ice maker over a period of time say the valve is leaking a few drops at a time and the bail arm has the icemaker shut off because its touching ice in the bin but the water just keeps dripping down the fill tube till it runs over did you replace the whole icemaker or just the motor module

SOURCE: ice maker overfills and leaks into the ice bin.

I have had a similar problem several times. What I have found is that the ice tray coating has begun to flake off. Then, the ice sticks or partially dumps. Next more ice builds up and when the valve opens the water runs over the partially emptied tray and spills into the bin making "icebergs". The remedy is to replace the tray or if that is not possible, then, the whole icemaker. In fact, I have one down stairs to put in tomorrow. They don't seem to last more than about 4 years or so.

Scotsman DCE33 15" Legacy Under-Counter Ice Machine. Reservoir overflowing during initial turn on and harvest cycle?

Question edited for full 'make model (what it is)' and spelling of 'reservoir'.

Matt Solves his own issue, well done and thanks for coming back with the answer.

UPDATE (since I cant figure out how to answer my own question):

Figured out that it was just a faulty pressure sensor. I believe it got water in it which was disrupting its function... I took the pressure sensor apart and reassembled it and now it can keep up with the drainage out of the reservoir.

Interesting note, which I hadn't realized before, the hose from the reservoir drains much faster than the bin... the bin has small holes that lead to the drain whereas the reservoir tube can have good throughput.

Water keeps running

where is the water running on the ice head or is this a remote water cooled condenser? If water is running all the time at the ice head into the sump tray and overflowing into the ice bin then check the water inlet valve ether rebuild or replace valve but make sure the water low sensor is not calling for water when the sump tray is full of water.

Water keeps overflowing over the ice making coils

Do you mean that it is overflowing the sump tray into the bin? If so there are two things to check. First make sure the unit is level. Second their is a simple water float valve much like an old toilet float that keeps the sump full. Turn the machine off and make sure that the float will stop the water flow 100% when the sump water level is just over the bottom of the water pump impeller. If the float will not stop the water flow either the water pressure is too high or the float valve is bad and has to be replaced. In general water pressure should be between 20-40 psi.

Ice maker feeding too much water and overflows

I have the GE Profile TFX24PR that exhibited the same symptoms. I had water leaking, making ice in the bottom of the ice bin, as well as under the ice bin. I also discovered ice down the back wall of the freezer.

A technician replaced the ice maker, which did not solve the problem. He put the original back and replaced the valve on the back. That too did not solve the problem. I took matters into my own hands.

I discovered that the ice maker water fill tube that comes in through the back of the freezer wall was leaking. Water would run down the outside of the tube. Some of the water would go into the ice maker, some would go into the ice bin and some of the water would also run down the wall of the fan housing where it passes through a hole in the fan housing. The big problem was the water running down the wall of the fan housing. From there it ran onto the cooling coils, where it would freeze, causing the freezer to go into extended defrost. My freezer and fridge would warm up and I had some food spoil.

If this looks like it may be your problem, you may want to enlist some help for this; it is tedious, time consuming and requires working in the confined spaces of the freezer.

After disassembling the fan housing I was able to access the fill tube. It just pushes in and is prone to wear, especially after fourteen years. I just reversed the ends of the tube and pushed it back in for a snug fit. You may want to consider using a sealer. Everything is working fine now; lots of ice in the bin, and no stray ice or water.
